Black Hills 3, Tumwater 2 (14-25, 26-24, 27-25, 20-25, 15-11)

The Black Hills Wolves and Tumwater T-Birds came in both undefeated in league play and the cross town rivalry would determine who took control of the top spot in the EVCO 2a. The T-Birds came out firing quickly building a lead over the Wolves in the 1st set and drawing off to win by an easy 25-14 score.

It looked like this might be a quick night but set 1 had nothing to do with the rest of the match as Black Hills came back to win sets 2 and 3 in extra time 26-24 and 27-25. Tumwater wouldn’t go away quietly and roared back in the 4th set to end it to a 5th and final set that saw a late surge from Black Hills come away with a huge win.

Black Hills improves to 4-0 in league play and 6-1 overall while Tumwater fell to 5-1 and 6-3. The Wolves will next host Centralia on Thursday and Tumwater travels to WF West also on Thursday. Our Pacific Sports Spa visiting team MVP went to Lily Bauer and our Thorbeckes home team MVP was Sydney Hanson.
