7/29/2023

(Auburn, WA) Saturday night racing continued and featured a 7 race card with 46 starters for an average of 6.6 per race. The card did have 3 races with 5 starters but finished with 2 7-horse fields plus an 8 and 9 horse field which helped the overall handle up about $300,000 from the previous Saturday to $857,018 or an average of $122,431 per race. The dip last Saturday was likely due to a large number of racetracks running later than usual with several having extended cards such as Monmouth with a 14 race day.

Saturday night also marked a couple of riding highs and lows with Rocco Bowen scoring his 1st triple win day of the meet winning the 4th, 5th and 6th races. Bowen had a win yesterday so with 4 going into Sunday he leads all riders for the week. On the flip side Saturday was the 1st day of the meet that neither Luis Negron or Alex Cruz won a race. It was especially frustrating for Negron who rode 4 races and finished 2nd in each one of his rides. Silvio Amador also remained hot with 4 rides he officially went 1-1-0-1 but had finished 3rd in the feature and then DQ’d for interference and placed 5th. For the 2 days this week Amador is 2-3-1-1 from 8 rides.

John Parker and Candi Cryderman

Kevin Radke got things started winning the opener for his 2nd win of the week, Alexis Valdes took the 2nd race for his 1st win to end July and Alex Anaya came home a winner in the finale at 8-1 for trainer Joe Toye. This was Toye’s 399th win at Emerald Downs. Emerald Downs Media director Vince Bruun reports his next win will make him the 11th trainer in track history to hit the 400 mark.

Owner John Parker and trainer Candi Cryderman had a breakout night winning 2 and placing 2nd behind one of their winners. The Parker/Cryderman team won the opener with Moscow Lady and then finished 1st and 2nd in the 4th with Neissa and Shelby Shortstop.

Let’s get to the race re-caps!

6th Race Feature Race The Muckleshoot Casino Purse

A field of 7 lined up for the 6-furlongs in the feature Muckleshoot Casino Purse and shooting out of the gate was Miss Dynamic the 5-2 2nd choice with Rocco Bowen aboard. Bowen and Miss Dynamic set all the fractions going 22.20 and 44.88 which was slow enough to give Miss Dynamic all the finish she would need. Turning for home Bowen let Miss Dynamic out a little bit and she extended to a 3 length lead and was never challenged winning by 2 1/2 in a winning time of 1:10.32.

Miss Dynamic is owned by Antonio Medoza and trained by Rigoberto Velasquez. The 3-year-old filly is a Washington bred by Dynamic Impact out of Miss Salome by Harbor the Gold and was bred by Antonio Mendoza.

Ms Flashy Harbor and Luis Negron at a juicy price of 12-1 ran a solid race to be 2nd. 5-2 Nana’ Angels and Silvio Amador was just behind in 3rd with Driveway at 7-1 with Alex Cruz taking 4th and in 5th was the 2-1 favorite Yogya and Carlos Montalvo. After the race the Stewards hung the Inquiry sign and then disqualified Nana’s Angels from 3rd and placed her 5th for interference down the backstretch moving Driveway to 3rd and Yogya to 4th.

With the win Miss Dynamic earned $13,920 to boost her career earnings to $83,795 and improved her career stats to 3-2-2 from 8 lifetime starts. The all Rocco Bowen 50-cent Pick 3 didn’t fool too many and paid $24.85 but that’s still a 23-1 return.

It would remain that way for 6-furlongs when Executive Action put his head in front. Meantime, State of the Union began closing in and was about a length and half back in 3rd at that point. Neissa with Rocco Bowen led and extended that lead at every call and won by an impressive 4 1/2 lengths in a final time of 58.27. Stablemate Shelby Shortstop with Luis Negron were a clear 2nd by nearly 6 lengths. Coastal Girl and Alex Cruz was the best of the rest and in 4th was Rockit a Day with Silvio Amador. Only a few dollars separated both the top 2 finishers at 2-1 but Neissa was the official favorite. Neissa is a Washington bred by Gold Rush Dancer out of Among the Stars by Harbor the Gold and was bred by John Parker.

5th Race
Starter Mark Gibson let the 2nd field of 9 but this time from 6 1/2-furlongs and this time it wasn’t the early speed that held up. 2-1 Gabby Hayes with Rocco Bowen stalked from 5th, made a big move on the turn and took the lead by the top of the stretch. 10-1 Hunters Ghost and Luis Negron made a run from 4th but could not deny Gabby Hayes and did overcome Fantastic Day and Carlos Montalvo at the wire by a neck.
