The WIAA has the link up to purchase your tickets for this weekend’s 6 State Championship Football games and for the first time since being forced to leave the Tacoma Dome, fans can watch all 6 games with one small difference. When the games were all in the Tacoma Dome they played 2 Championship games on Friday and 4 on Saturday. The new format is 3 and 3 at Husky Stadium. Both days will have the same schedule with 11am, 3pm and 7pm kick-off times.

The WIAA had been looking for an answer after the Tacoma Dome renovated their seating that made much of the stands unviewable along with rising costs and a new turf field was badly needed all made the Dome unusable for the Championships. The past 3 Championships had been played at Sparks Stadium, Mt Tahoma and Harry Lang Stadium with 2 games each at the same times. This made it impossible for fans to watch all the games like before when they were played at 1 location.

Mick Hoffman

WIAA Executive Director Mick Hoffman says even though the number of fans that were coming for all the games had dropped dramatically over the years it is great to have that option again, and maybe it will encourage fans to again attend more than 1 game. Hoffman says the search for a new single location didn’t take long since there really is only 2 alternatives Lumen field with the Seahawks and Husky Stadium. Hoffman says the Husky administration were excited about working out a plan that works for both the WIAA and the Huskies and said the Lumen field representatives were honest about not being able to compete with the Husky proposal. The Seahawks have instead helped cover the costs and are the presenting sponsors for the State Football Championships.

Tickets are now on sale and the cost is $17 for adults for each day and gives you admission to all 3 games. It’s $12 for Seniors, Military and Students. Or $5.67 per game for adults and $4 per game for Seniors, Military and Students. For 2-day passes or all 6 games, the cost is $30 for adults which is an average of $5 per game and $22 for Seniors, Military and Students or $3.67 per game.
