(Renton, WA) The WIAA 1B Boys and Girls Seeding Committees have completed their work. Below are the seeds. Time, day and location of Regionals are still to be determined but will be next Friday and Saturday. We will continue to update this post as that information is finalized.
Quick explanation of the Regional Play-offs. The 1B boys is a 20 team tournament so seeds 13-20 will play a loser out game to get the tournament down to 16 headed into the round of 16 in the Regional bracket. Seed 13 vs 20, 14 vs 19, 15 vs 18 and 16 vs 17. These games will played at multiple locations and likely on Tuesday, February 20.
Then in the Regional round of 16 seeds 1-8 will face each other with 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5. All 8 teams are advancing to the Spokane Arena with the winners of these games moving straight to Thursday’s Quarterfinals and the double-elimination round. The losers of the Regional games will have to play on Wednesday, opening day of State and the round of 12 in a loser out, winner to quarterfinals round.
Seeds 9-16 or the equalivent after the Tuesday games, will play in the Regionals with 9 vs 16, 10 vs 15, 11 vs 14 and 12 vs 13. These games are all loser out, winner to the Wednesday games, round of 12 at the Spokane. They will face another loser out game to get to the quarterfinal round.
The girls tournament is like the regular 16-team format with seeds 1-8 will face each other with 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5.
