The Seattle Kraken AHL affiliate Coachella Valley Firebirds are on the brink of elimination after a 3-1 loss in the hands of the Abbotsford Canucks.

Abbotsford scored goals from Nate Smith, Kirill Kudryavtsev, and Phillip Di Giuseppe, while Coachella Valley scored their lone goal from Ryan Winterton.

Smith and Kudryavtsev’s goals came 4:32 apart late in the first period. After a scoreless second period, Ryan Winterton scored early in the third. Phillip Di Giuseppe iced the game with an empty net goal to give Abbotsford a 3-1 win and a 2-1 lead in the series.

Arturs Silovs made 25 saves in the win for the Canucks. Nikke Kokko made 20 saves in the loss for Coachella Valley.

Game 4 of the series is set for Friday night in Abbotsford, with the Canucks having a chance to eliminate the two time Western Conference Champion Firebirds.
