(Carlsbad, CA) Seattle’s Lauryn Nguyen has helped lead the Northwestern Wildcats to the National Championship Match in the team competition of the NCAA DI Women’s Golf National Championship. Northwestern was one of the eight teams that advanced during the stroke play portion of the Championship, earning the 3-seed with their splendid play.
In the Quarterfinals, Northwestern faced the 6-seed Arkansas, which has the 2025 Individual National Champion, Maria Jose Marin. Northwestern won 3-2, including Nguyen winning her match 1 UP. The Wildcats then faced the 2-seed Oregon, where once again, they won 3-2.
Northwestern now faces the No. 1 seed, Stanford, in the National Championship Match. Stanford has won two of the last three team National Championships. Since the format changed to Match Play in 2015, the Cardinal have won three team National Championships, while no other school has won more than one in that time.
Nguyen has had a successful week in California already, finishing 14th in the individual tournament.
