(Auburn, Wa) Saturday’s racing kick-off a great 3-day weekend of action at Emerald Downs. More than 70 horses have been entered for each of the 3 days with an average per race average of 8.4. This set up great racing on the track and tremendous wagering opportunities for the bettors.
68 ended up breaking from the gates on Saturday for an average of 8.5 starters per race. There was a mix of favorites and big pays with several season high pays. They responded by wagering $1,657,833 averaging a season high $207,229 per race. The sun was shining and the racing tremendous, let’s get to the races.
7th Race The La Casa Escapar Featured Race
Two scratches left 6 to go 1 mile in the featured race of the day. The bettors were split with 2-1 Oh Angel and Manny Americano were the favorite. A pair of 5-2 shots included English Dancer with Alex Cruz and Class Code with Kevin Krigger.
Despite the favorites covering half the field it wasn’t enough. 5-1 Greatful Attitude and David Haldar broke well to sit 3rd through the 1st turn and down the backstretch. As they approached the far turn Haldar moved into 2nd just behind the leader Oh Angel while English Danger and Cruz went to the rail and Class Code rolled up into contention from last place.
At the top of the stretch Greatful Attitude burst away to a 1 1/2 length lead. The 3 favorites lined up to take their shots but Class Code could only get within 1 3/4 lengths at the finish line as Greatful Attitude held them all off in a final time of 1:37.32.
English Danger ran a clear 3rd while Oh Angel held on to 4th over Scatalicious by a neck while Proof of Jazz completed the field.
Greatful Attitude, a 4-year-old filly, is owned by Silvano Martin, Jose Paredes and Victor Trujillo and trained by Victor Trujillo. Greatful Attitude is now 4-4-2 from 19 starts and pushed earnings to $62,551.

Race favorite Howdoyoulikemenow with Kevin Krigger got off to a fast start sitting just off pace in the 1-mile run and then bolting to a 4-length lead at the top of the stretch extending it to 5 3/4-lengths in a final time of 1:35.98. Howdoyoulikemenow is owned by Warlock Stables and trained by Tim McCanna.
14-1 Stay Lit with Pablo Castillo was the best of the rest by a neck over Blues Rapper and Manny Americano while Beskar at 5-1 completed the superfecta.

Odds-on favorite Abraaj Mirage along with Manny Americano did not disappoint blowing out the field of 6 going a mile. Abraaj Mirage took the lead and drew out by 2 1/2 at the 1st call and ended up winning by 6 in a final time of 1:36.08. Abraaj Mirage is owned by Carl Petroff and Liz Kowalski and trained by Kowalski. The Washington bred by Abraaj out of Jamine’s Melody by Artax and was bred by Ron and Nina Hagen.
The race was for 2nd and came down to a head and head. 3-1 Grape Nuts Warrior and Alex Cruz got up for 2nd, 13-1 Ruler of Angels with Francisco Monroy just missed 2nd settling for 3rd by a head over 6-1 Clayton Delaney and Kevin Orozco.

2’s were wild in the 3rd raced, 8-5 Travel the Map and Kevin Krigger rolled to their 2nd win. It was Krigger’s 2nd win of the day and now Travel the Map won his 2nd race of the year. Another front running win for Map and Krigger to win by nearly 2 lengths stopping the clock in 1:09.33 for the 6 furlong run. Favorite at 6-5 Mr Executive and Francisco Duran were a clear 2nd, 4-1 Pedal to the Metal and Manny Americano were 3rd with 4th place going to 7-1 San Andres and Francisco Monroy 4th.
Travel the Map races for Cynthia and Fred Desimone and trained by Tim McCanna who also got his 2nd win of the day while the Desimone’s picked up their 2nd win of the year.

In the 4th race a field of 10 went 5 furlongs and the well balanced field was set up for a wide-open affair. 7-1 Dynamic Dee Dee got out of the gates quickly and turning for home put her head in front of 9-2 Empirical and Francisco Monroy. Empirical, a 1st time started had set fractions of 21.75 and 44.98 but could not resist Dynamic Dee Dee who surged to nearly a 2-length win stopping the clock in 56.96.
3-1 favorite Delayed and Denied ran 3rd with Carlos Montalvo up and completing the top 4 was 5-1 Nephele with Frank Alvarado. Dynamic Dee Dee is owned by Ron Schmid and Patti Boudier and trained by Frank Lucarelli. The 3-year-old filly is a Washington bred by Dynamic Impact out of Somethin’bout Iris by Harbor the Gold and was bred by the owners.

11 went 6 furlongs in the 5th race and the 9-5 favorite Curlin’s Song didn’t fire, leaving the door open for mad scramble in the final 16th. 10-1 Guard Your Secret and Silvio Amador led all the way to the 16th pole while 8-1 Race a Roany and Manny Americano chased to the stretch then swung out to the middle of the track and gained on the leader.
2nd choice 7-2 Fine By Me and Francisco Monroy came from mid-pack and joined the duo but Race a Roany got the job done by 3/4-length over the closing Fine By Me who beat Guard Your Secret for 2nd by a 1/2 length. The trio were well clear of 4th place Cape Blossom and Alex Cruz.
Race a Roany ran the 6-furlongs in 1:10.29.The 3-year-old filly is owned by Nina Hagen and Hollis Sturgeon and trained by Howie Gibson. Race a Roany is a Washington bred by Conveyance out of Knight Raider by Tribunal and was bred by the owners.

11 loaded up the gate for 5 1/2 furlongs under starter Mark Gibson who sprung the gates with 77-1 Pakas Secret and Jose Rodriguez went to the front. Pakas Secret held that lead to the top of the stretch when 5-2 2nd choice Wirewyre got rolling with a perfectly timed ride by Francisco Monroy and cleared by 1 3/4 lengths in a time of 1:03.65. Wirewyre is owned by Tsujikawa Racing, Mason Burns and Howie Gibson and trained by Gibson who picked up his 2nd win of the day and his 101st career victory. The Washington bred by Harbor the Gold out of Meant tto be Mia by War Chant was bred by Antonio Mendoza.
21-1 Tigersrun and Kevin Orozco came flying late to get 2nd while Pakas Secret ran his ass off to hold 3rd and paid a season high $22.14. 19-1 Dekudylan and Javier Matias ran 4th to trigger a 10-cent $2,064.24 superfecta pay-off.

In the finale the 3-5 heavy favorite Ethan’s Girl and Kevin Krigger looked to be home free halfway down the stretch when 7-1 early speed Stay N Lov and Alex Cruz re-rallied and surged to the finish line in front by a neck. Stay N Lov races for Ramone Chavarria-Delgado and trained by Jorge Rosales in a final time of 1:03.92.
Hot Betty with Francisco Monroy ran 3rd followed by Solo Un Beso and Juan Gutierrez took 4th while Another Ten and Manny Americano completed the Super High 5.
