PWHL Seattle has signed their first players to the roster before the Expansion Draft takes place next week. The Exclusive Signing Window ends on June 8 at 2 PM, but the team has already signed five players.
Hilary Knight is the biggest name the team has signed. Knight is one of, if not the most decorated, American women’s hockey player ever. Knight has won the Olympic gold medal with Team USA in 2018, 10 gold medals at the IIHF World Championships, and was named the IIHF Female Player of the Year in 2023, to name a few of her accomplishments. Last season, Knight helped lead the Boston Fleet to the PWHL Walter Cup Finals as the captain.
The team also signed four more players. Danielle Serdachny from the Ottawa Charge, Cayla Barnes from Montreal Victoire, Corinne Schroeder from the New York Sirens, and Alex Carpenter, also from the New York Sirens. Serdachny scored the game-winning goal for Canada in the gold medal game at the 2024 World Championships. Barnes has been on two Team USA Olympic teams and helped the team win gold in 2018. Schroeder was the 2024 PWHL Goaltender of the Year and led the league in shutouts in the 2024-25 season. Carpenter was an alternate captain on the Sirens, and has won seven gold medals with Team USA in the World Championships.
PWHL Seattle has reached their maximum of signing five players during the Exclusive Signing Window. The Expansion Draft takes place on June 9 at 5:30 PM, while the PWHL Draft will be on June 24 at 4 PM.
