(Tacoma, WA) The Washington Men’s Amateur Championship holds five qualifiers across the state to determine the field. The first qualifier was held at Lake Spanaway Golf Course, where 24 golfers made the cut to play at the Washington Men’s Amateur Championship, held later this month at Bear Creek Country Club in Woodinville.
Dalton Dean from Lynwood and Jacoby Schmidlapp from Snoqualmie each shot 3-under to tie for first at the Lake Spanaway Qualifier. Both players shot 35 and 34, with Schmidlapp shooting his 34 on the front nine while Dean shot 34 on the back nine. Jon Sauer from Sammamish shot 2-under to finish in solo third place. Max Burns from Lakewood, Jeff Seong from Tacoma, Naoki Easterday from Portland, Oregon, Dalton Conn from Seattle, and Drake Lai from Sammamish each shot 1-under to finish tied for fourth.
Akshay Anand from Issaquah, Alex Wunderlich from Snoqualmie, Soren Bostrom from Renton, Ian Schoonmaker from Vancouver, Eric Brault from Kirkland, Riley Kirk from Kelso, Kora Lee from Sun City, Arizona, Jacob Kang from Mill Creek, Benjamin Van Hollebeke from Seattle, and Chandler St. Louis all tied for ninth with even par 72s. Milo Stover from Seattle, Sahaj Klair from Boise, Idaho, Jacob Janho from Puyallup, David Pedersen from Seattle, Conner Conley from Gig Harbor, and Brendan Mason from Tacoma tied for 19th at 1-over to secure the final spots from this qualifier.
Taylor Konkright from Puyallup is the first alternate after also shooting 1-over. Noah Larson from Vancouver shot 2-over and is the second alternate. Ryan Hinrichsen from Bremerton also shot 2-over and is the third alternate, while Zack Forgash is the fourth alternate.
