(Walla Walla, WA) The second round of the 123rd PNGA Women’s Amateur Championship wrapped up today. The first two rounds of stroke play set the 32-player match-play field. Tomorrow, the match play portion of the championship will begin, with the Round of 32 in the morning and the Round of 16 in the afternoon. This week’s winner will get an exemption into the 125th U.S. Women’s Amateur at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon, from August 4-10.
Ava Schroeder from Twin Falls, Idaho, matched her 3-under 69 yesterday with another one today to take the top spot by three strokes. Schroeder was even on the front nine today but went 3-under for a 33 on the back nine for her second straight sub-70 round. Schroeder is a sophomore at BYU, taking the medalist honors in the stroke play portion. Schroeder will be in the first match tomorrow morning at 7:30, going up against Anna Duerr from Olympia.

Inez Ng from Singapore shot an 8-over 80 in the first round, but bounced back with a 2-under 70 to go from out to in.
