(Sunriver, OR) The 123rd PNGA Men’s Amateur Championship wrapped up the second round, and the stroke play portion of the championship has concluded. The first two days are stroke play, and the field has been cut to 64 players for match play to determine the champion. The first round, Round of 32, Round of 16, and half of the 36-hole Championship Match will be at the Woodlands Course, while the second round, Round of 64, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the other half of the 36-hole Championship Match will be at the Meadows Course. Thursday begins match play with the Round of 64. The Round of 32 and Round of 16 will be on Friday. Saturday will see the Quarterfinals and Semifinals, and Sunday will be the 36-hole Championship Match.

Dylan Burcham from Valencia, California, took the medalist honors with a two-day total of 135, good enough for 8-under for the two rounds. Burcham was one of eight players at 3-under after the first round yesterday and shot a 5-under 66 in the second round. He had as many bogeys as he did eagles, with one of each. Burcham is going into his sophomore year at Washington State.

Puyallup’s Jonas Kim fired a 2-under 69 to take solo second place at 7-under for the two days. Sacramento, California’s Matthew Miyamoto, Meridian, Idaho’s Dylan Rodgers, and Davenport’s Kristof Panke all tied for third at 6-under, with all three players shooting a 3-under 69 yesterday and a 3-under 68 today. Taylor Lansford from Post Falls, Idaho, and Puyallup’s Jacob Janho tied for sixth at 4-under. Nine players tied for eighth with a two-day total at 3-under to round out the top 10.

The cutline ended up being at 4-over, with six players tied for only three spots available. Eugene, Oregon’s Owen Davis-Piger, Newberg, Oregon’s Ray Greller (nephew of Jordan Spieth’s caddie, Michael), and Truckee, California’s Ethan Flynn were the three players who advanced into match play. Davis-Piger shot 79 yesterday with only one birdie, and today shot his way into match play with a 3-under 68, making a birdie on 16 and an eagle on 17 to jump above the cutline. 11 players finished at 5-over, one shot out of a playoff to make match play.

The round of the day came courtesy of Eli McNelly from Olympia. McNelly had a wild day yesterday, going out at 1-under, but a pair of double bogeys on the back nine had him come in at 43 for a 78 and on the outside of the cutline, looking in. Today, McNelly birdied five of his first seven holes for a 5-under 30 on the front and remained bogey-free on the back with a 1-under 35 to shoot 65, the lowest round of stroke play, and to comfortably secure a spot in match play, finishing at even for the two days.
