Championship Match
A pair of Americans in Brook Biermann and Megha Ganne, are battling it out for the 125th U.S. Women’s Amateur. The 36-hole match is a battle of attrition after an already grueling week. Both players needed 19 holes to get through the semifinals yesterday, and are looking to be crowned a USGA champion.
The first eight holes were a back-and-forth affair. Megha Ganne won the first and third holes to take a quick 2 Up lead. Biermann countered with two long birdies on four and five to tie the match. Ganne went back to a 1 Up lead by winning the seventh hole, but Biermann again bounced back with a birdie on eight to tie things up. The pair played the 11th as their second playoff hole, and Louderbaugh reached the green in two while Romero pushed her second shot long and right of the green.
