(Tacoma, WA) The first year of the “new-look” 4A SPSL produced the state champs, many great regular-season games, and a reminder that no matter who’s in the league or up next on the schedule, you must bring your A game every week. A big change, other than three new teams, was non-league games. Scheduling three non-league games was something new for these programs, players, and some coaches. The league took advantage of going outside the walls of their familiar foes, and even the state in some cases, to gear up for the always arduous SPSL regular season.
For the second year, the league hosted media day at The Ram Restaurant & Brewery on the banks of the Puget Sound. ESN was able to speak with the coaches and players on a variety of topics from last year, the offseason, breakout players, and more. 11 of the 12 teams showed up, only Yelm wasn’t present, but for the 11 schools that attended, their interviews are posted below.
