(Auburn, WA) Sorry folks this is going to be rather short. High school sports begins this week and that is our busy time but I will be at the races both Saturday and Sunday to complete the season and have a lot of end of season coverage.
The re-caps are very short, we do have Vince Bruun’s feature race story. Let’s get to it!
The Numbers
Sunday had 9 races with 58 starters for a 6.4 starter average, well below the 7.3 season average. Bettors were a little below average of the season long average handle per race and per day. They bet $1,254,008 for an average of $139,334 or about 20k below the season average per race.
The Betting Window
The tote board exploded with new high returns for the $2 win, $1 exacta, 50-cent trifecta, 10-cent superfecta and 50-cent pick 3. All due to 53-1 Stay Lit winning the 7th race with Allyssa Morales aboard giving trainer Sarah Jennings her 2nd career win for owner Terry Johnson.
The new high $2 win is now $109.94 which beat Poker Alice’s $69 which was set just last week and Allyssa Morales was aboard for that upset as well. The $1 exacta to the 4-5 favorite Dennard still was the top pay of the season at $340.08.
44-1 J T’s Watch ran 3rd returning a season high trifecta pay of $1,386.92. Add the 25-1 Mount Pelliar and the 10-cent superfecta paid $5,109.53. The $1 pick 3 paid a season high using this race as the middle leg. In the 6th, 5-2 Spectacular Tiger won followed by Stay Lit and 3-5 Cap It Daddy completed the pick 3 paying $2,649.19.
We’re a little surprised the 5th-7th race pick 3 with an 8-1 winner to 5-2 to 53-1 paid the lowest involving Stay Lit at just under $765. The final pick 3 also paid less beginning with the 53-1 to 3-5 to 5-1, that returned $1,700.
Carryovers
It should be np surprise that the pick 6 is carrying over to Friday now up to $33, 279. Only 4 of 6 winners was needed to win $108.47.
After no pick 5 carryovers’ all season, this will be the 3rd since the Longacres Mile. On Friday bettors will get a $10,779 head start on the pick 5 pot. 4 of 5 returned $48.12.
8th and Feature Race
The speedy Cap It Daddy held off Impassable and scored a one-length victory in Sunday’s $21,000 Muckleshoot Casino Purse at Emerald Downs.
Ridden by Silvio Amador, Cap It Daddy zoomed six furlongs in 1:08.33 and paid $3.26 as the betting favorite. Elodio Madrigal is the winning trainer for Cold Boy Stables.
Winning his second straight, Cap It Daddy set fractions of :21.35 and :43.77, shook off Slew o’ Mischief into the stretch, and held sway over Impassable to the wire.
A 3-year-old California-bred by Dads Caps, Cap It Daddy is 3-1-1 in six career starts, all this season at Emerald Downs.
