UFC Noche was a night to remember with star-studded action and highlights up and down the whole card. Multiple first-round finishes, amazing comebacks, and bloody wars that reinforce why MMA is the best sport in the world. UFC Noche is honoring Mexico and its fighters, and is the second Noche event ever. Mexican fighters were locked in all day and had amazing performances that left the crowd cheering throughout every fight.

UFC Noche Recap:

Santiago Luna vs Quang Lee: Bantamweight

UFC Noche got started with a bang as the Mexican native Santiago Luna got the round one KO against Quang Lee. Lee was the one who started off hot and landed some big shots on Luna. Luna was stunned and had to regain his composure. He weathered the storm and started to catch a rhythm on the feet. Luna stuffed a couple of takedowns and then threw a massive left hook that sat Lee down.  Lee managed to get back up, but Luna poured the pressure on and hit him with combinations that dropped Lee again and secured Luna the TKO victory. Luna is one of the youngest fighters in the UFC and has a bright future ahead of him.

Alexander Hernandez vs Diego Ferreira: Lightweight

Alexander Hernandez knocks out Diego Ferreira in round two to get his second KO victory in a month. This was what looked like a comeback win, as Hernandez was being pressured the whole fight by Ferreira and didn’t have much success on the feet. Ferreira was up on strikes and volume and was the aggressor between the two. This all changed with one strike, though, as Hernandez would deliver a huge right hand that dropped Ferreira. Hernandez pounced on Ferreira and smashed him with ground and pound strikes that left him out cold on the mat. A late stoppage from the referee may have caused more significant injury to Ferreira, who took way too many unprotected shots. Hernandez gets the KO victory and is now in second place for the biggest win streak in the lightweight division. He wants a top 15-ranked fight next and has called out Michael Chandler as his next opponent before the end of the year.

Kelvin Gastelum vs Dustin Stoltzfus: Middleweight

Kelvin Gastellum gets the decision win vs Dustin Stoltzfus in a action packed brawl. Stoltsfus started the first round very well. He mixed up his strikes beautifully with kicks to the vody, calf kicks, and clean boxing. He even landed some good shots on Gastelum in the opening round. Stoltzfus took the first round and looked great heading into the second round. Gastelum had enough and went right to work in the second. He turned the fight into a war and started to land clean on the feet. Both men were getting into brutal boxing exchanges and both taking the brunt of the other’s strikes. Gastelum landed a big left hand that dropped Stoltzfus and Kelvin went for a submission attempt that wasn’t successful to end the second round. The third went similarly, a brawl where both men were getting the better of each other. Gastelum seemed to be landing more and had the heavier strikes that ultimately gave him the edge for the win. Gastelum is looking to break back into the middleweight rankings after this win and is on a three fight win streak.

Rafa Garcia vs Jared Gordan: Lightweight

Rafa Garcia gets the KO victory against Jared Gordan in round three in an absolute bloody battle. This was probably the most competitive fight of the night all the way up until the stoppage. All the rounds were so close and who won each round can depend on who is watching. The striking and grappling exchanges were so even throughout the fight that it never seemed that one man had the upper hand. In round two and three specifically, there were literal minutes where the two just stood in front of each other and exchanged blows. Both men were hurt many times as the fight went on and it looked like one of them could fall at any moment. Gordon sustained a massive cut on his head from an elbow that left him bleeding profusely. This came to ahead in round three when Rafa Garcia landed a right hand that dropped Gordon. Garcia jumped on him and threw big ground and pound shots before attempting a submission. Gordon survived the submission but Garcia went right back to work and punished him with elbows to get the victory. Huge win for the Mexican native Garcia at UFC Noche who wants to break into the lightweight rankings.

#9 Rob Font vs David Martinez: Bantamweight

David Martinez defeats Rob Font by unanimous decision in a great back and forth fight. Martinez got off to a great start and focused primarily on kicks in the first round. It was clear that Martinez had the speed advantage between the two men and he went to work early. He also did a great job of constantly switching stances and taking away some of Font’s biggest weapons. He started to slow down a little bit in round two and Font took advantage. Font walked him down and out landed him the round but did eat a huge left hook that left him hurt. Martinez had a second wind in the third round and came out as ferocious as ever. He went back to the kicks and kept Font as distance with crisp striking. Martinez dropped Font at the very end of the third round as the bell was rang and secured the victory in the eyes of the judges. He is now in the top 15 rankings of the bantamweight division and is looking to climb the ladder.

#2 Diego Lopez vs #10 Jean Silva: Featherweight

Diego Lopez TKOs Jean Silva at the very end of round two in what up until that point could have been fight of the year. Lopez had a fierce first round where he capitalized on a missed spinning elbow from Silva and took him down. He got full mount position and absolutely butchered Silva on the ground with elbows. Shockingly, Silva survived and got back up to his feet where he started to land serious strikes on Lopez. In round two, Silva looked like a maurader, walking Lopez down and hitting him with huge power shits over and over again. Silva could feel a KO coming and started to chase the knockout. Lopez took him down and did some more damage but Silva returned to his feet. Silva chased Lopez down and went for the killing blow. He got over zealous and wild on his srtikes and Lopez took advantage. While being chassed, Lopez threw a spinning back elbow that dropped Silva. Lopez pounced and smashed Silva for the TKO victory. One of the best rounds you will ever see in MMA and Lopez gets back in the win column after losing to champion Alexander Volkanovski. He is back in title contention and wants another shot at the gold which we might see in the near future.
