(Centralia, WA) It was senior night at Centralia Tiger Stadium. The Centralia Tigers came into Tuesday’s match against Black Hills with a 4-3 league record. Black Hills came in at 3-4 and won the first meeting in a shootout. A win by the Tigers would split the season and pretty much lock up 3rd place in the league standings. A win for Black Hills would give the Wolves a great chance of hosting one of the pigtail matches against the GSHL in the opening round of districts.

Black Hills at Centralia

The Wolves started out with the opening kickoff and controlled the pace early in the match. Black Hills pounces just 5 minutes in on a goal from freshman midfielder Ella McNair. In the 9th minute McNair found fellow freshman Natalie Jarmin in the penalty area and the Wolves took an early 2-0 lead.

In between those 2 goals by Black Hills the Tigers keeper Nena Venegas-Minor made a great save in the 7th minute to slow down the Wolves momentarily. Centralia was able to regroup and got a spark from Ana Blankenship off the bench.

Blankenship made a great run down the sideline and after getting by a defender got into the penalty area. Black Hills keeper Angela Gibbs cut off the near post but Blankenship sent a low pass instead. The pass got to Trinity Smith for the Tigers only goal of the match.

Gibbs ended up with 6 saves in the first half for Black Hills and Venegas-Minor had 2 saves for Centralia.

Halftime Black Hills 2 Centralia 1
