The 4A girls soccer tournament wrapped up at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup on Saturday and the biggest surprise was #12 Mount Si was in the Semifinals. Little did anyone know that would not be the end of this team’s journey to stun the 4A bracket.
Below are our re-caps of the 4 matches this weekend with the semifinals on Friday and the 3rd place and Championship matches on Saturday.
Below that are all the results for the tournament with links to additional coverage that we could find. Congrats to all 4 teams for getting to the 2025 State Soccer Final Four Championships.
State Championship
#12 Mount Si 2, #2 Tahoma 0
The Wildcats would not be satisfied for just “getting to” the final 4 and proved by upending #1 seed Issaquah in the Semifinals, 2-0.
On Saturday, Mount Si took on the next highest seed in #2 Tahoma. The Bears would not be able to stop this runaway train as the #12 Wildcats took home the big trophy with a 2-0 win over Tahoma.
The Cats’ were spurred on by a huge crowd showing up at Sparks Stadium and were loud the entire 80 minutes.
Mount Si began with an uptempo pace that head coach Kate Deines Krieger encouraged seemed to give the attackers the confidence they needed to put together a scoring run halfway through the 1st half.
On a breakaway the ball was a slow roller and Tahoma keeper Simone Bennett came out to try and jump on it but it was rolling slower than she thought and the Wildcats Reese Stanley got there first and she tapped it just hard enough to outpace the defense and rolled a cross for the 1st goal in the 20th minute.
The Wildcats weren’t done yet and 13 minutes later they were deep in Bears’ territory. Megan Ulrich threw it in from the side into the box and it ping-ponged around when Bella Seidenstucker delivered a laser shot to the right side of the net just outside the reach of Bennett for a 2-0 lead in the 33rd.
The Wildcats offense benefited and could take chances because of the Mount Si defense led by keeper Emily Jenkins in goal. Jenkins had 7 saves and directed the stifling defense that held the Bears to zero.
For her efforts and leadership, Jenkins earned our Sumner Holiday Inn Express MVP of the game award.
The Wildcats already did something no other girls soccer team had ever done at Mount Si HS and that’s to bring home a trophy. By just advancing to the semifinals they were guaranteed a 4th place trophy.
The Cats’ had other ideas and figured since they arfe getting a trophy, why not go get the big one and that’s exactly what they did.
Mount Si finished the season 17-5-1 and won it all in their first chance ever to win it.
Tahoma is no stranger to postseason play including winning the big trophy with 3 Championships but the last one was in 2005 and they were ready for #4 but ran into a buzz saw. It was their 2nd runner-ups trophy getting one in 2010. The Bears finished the year 20-2-1.

3rd/4th Place Match
#1 Issaquah 1, #3 Skyview 0
This match is one of the toughest matches to play, it’s much harder than playing for a Championship. Both teams came in believing they would be playing later in the day for the big trophy but both were dealt disappointing outcomes in the semifinals.
#1 Issaquah has 13 finals appearances with 5 Championships with the last being in 2017.
#3 Skyview was looking for their 2nd trophy in school history to add with their 4th place finish in 2010.
The challenge of this game is, #1 it started at 9am. #2 you have to turn around in about 12 hours and get up for a game many don’t even want to play at this time.
If one team can be up a little more than the other can be all the advantage you need. Both teams’ defenses were on tilt holding it to 0-0 through the first 40 minutes.
This looked like it was going to come down one chance and in fact that’s what happened. In the 56th Izzy Hammar got on top of a crossing pass from Madison Van Zandt and popped it into the net for the lead and ultimate winning shot.
Hammar was named our Sumner Holiday Inn Express MVP of the game. The Eagles keeper, Ebba Bjorklund, was in the conversation with the shut out and 4 saves.
Despite giving up the lone goal, keeper Brynnlee Williams would have been our choice if the Storm had pulled out the win. Williams kept Skyview in the game with some teriffic saves.
Issaquah finished the year 19-2-1 and added their 17th soccer trophy to their history and just their 2nd 3rd place finish.
Skyview took home their 2nd 4th place trophy and finished the year with a 15-4-4 record.

Semifinals
Friday, November 21st
#2 Tahoma 2, #3 Skyview 1
Tahoma’s Ameryia Johnson scored the brace putting the Bears on the board first in stoppage time of the 1st half. Johnson scored it on the assist from Addison Martinez.
The Storm answered in the 52nd minute early in the 2nd half when Lauryn Cornelius served up an assist to Reese Harrison who popped it in for the equalizer.
Johnson would have the answer in the 60th scoring the winning shot off a set piece launched by Ryenn Lyman who got the assist. Her efforts earned her the Sumner Holiday Express MVP award. Tahoma advanced to the State Championship match while Skyview would play for 3rd on Saturday.

#12 Mount Si 2, #1 Issaquah 1 (OT)
If anyone thought the #12 Mount Si Wildcats were simply a fluke, the top seeded Issaquah Eagles quickly figured out they were for real as they battled through the first 40 minutes scoreless.
The Eagles breathed a sigh of relief when they knocked in the first goal of the match to take the lead in the 53rd minute on a Molly Fordham goal with the assist to Linsey Craw.
But 10 minutes later the Wildcats proved they wouldn’t be a pushover scoring the equalizer in the 63rd when Bella Seidenstucker served up an assist to Lauren Standfield and the #12 Wildcats were again even with the top seed in the tournament.
The two teams could not decide the winner in regulation or the first golden goal 5 min period. Then lightning struck in the 87th minute off a throw in to the box the ball was misdirected a few times until Seidenstucker found it on her foot and a clear shot that she did not miss stunning the #1 Issaquah Eagles.
That earned Seidenstucker our Sumner Holiday Inn Express MVP of the game award.
It also guaranteed the first trophy ever won by a Mount Si girls team would now be either 2nd place or the big trophy as they moved onto the Championship match on Saturday.
Issaquah would play for 3rd on the final day.
