SEATTLE, WASH
After slumping in recent games, the Edmonton Oilers blanked the Seattle Kraken thanks to a 26 save shutout from Stuart Skinner.
Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Zach Hyman accounted for the goals for Edmonton.
The Oilers were coming off a humbling 8-3 loss to the Dallas Stars. Seattle themselves were coming off a loss to the Dallas Stars by a count of 3-2.
Joey Daccord once again was tabbed the start for Seattle, while Stuart Skinner was between the pipes for Edmonton.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins opened the scoring for the Oilers on the power play from the left faceoff circle at 11:29 of the opening period. The Kraken outshot the Oilers 12-11, but Edmonton led where it counts 1-0.
Leon Draisaitl’s worth to the Oilers cannot be more mentioned. He scored at 12:30 to give Edmonton an insurance tally. Draisaitl was at it again when on the power play he found Zach Hyman for a tip-in. Hyman’s first goal of the year at 18:51 gave Edmonton a 3-0 lead to break the contest wide open. Edmonton outshot Seattle 8-6 in the middle stanza.
In the third, Connor McDavid went past the blocker side of Joey Daccord at 6:25 to make it 4-0.
Stuart Skinner wound up with a 26 save shutout to down the Kraken. Seattle went 0 of 6 on the power play.
Seattle has to wait five days before they play again where they visit the same Edmonton Oilers with puck drop scheduled at 6pm from Rogers Place.
