(Lacey, WA) The Saint Martin’s Saints Men’s Basketball team sees its win streak jump up to four games with a pair of home wins to start out GNAC play. The Saints have won all four games by double digits on this win streak and are a perfect 3-0 at Marcus Pavilion.

Alaska Anchorage vs Saint Martin’s – 12/4

Saint Martin’s erupted out of the gates against the Seawolves, holding a 22-6 lead just seven and a half minutes into the game. Kaden Handsen was on fire with scintillating shooting to lead the Saints early. Mark Clegg Jr. and Dae’Kwon Watson also helped the Saints take a comfortable 44-29 lead. Clegg Jr. led Saint Martin’s with 14 first-half points. The Saints kept their momentum up in the second half, leading by double figures the entire way. Alaska Anchorage couldn’t get the three’s to go down, and Saint Martin’s cruised to a 78-63 victory.

Kaden Hansen was the only player who scored more than 14 points, finishing with 23 on 8-12 shooting and 5-8 from three-point land. Mark Clegg Jr. had 14 points, went 6-7 from the floor, and added nine rebounds. Dae’Kwon Watson had 12 points and three steals. Patrick Kilfoil ran the show for the Saints with eight assists and a pair of steals. Saint Martin’s held Alaska Anchorage to just 5-35 from beyond the arc.

Alaska Fairbanks vs Saint Martin’s – 12/6

Saint Martin’s jumped out to another quick double-digit lead, taking a 13-2 advantage five and a half minutes into the game. The defenses flexed their muscles after that, but Saint Martin’s added some late points to go up 32-23 at the half. In the second half, Saint Martin’s and Alaska Fairbanks traded runs as the Nanooks brought the Saints lead down to three points at 53-50 with 4:28 to go. Dae-Kwon Watson hit back-to-back three to make it a nine-point Saints lead, and Saint Martin’s would pull away for another double-digit victory, winning 66-56.

Dae’Kwon Watson led all scorers with 23 points, hitting all seven of his field goals from beyond the arc. He had six boards, four assists, and a block for good measure. Kaden Hansen had 20 points, three assists, and two steals. Diego Trejo-Delgado had 10 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in the contest. Mark Clegg Jr. pulled down 11 rebounds while he and Anthony Simo had four offensive rebounds each. Saint Martin’s had 16 total offensive rebounds and 19 assists on 23 made field goals. The Saints also won the fast-break points advantage 15-4 over the Nanooks.

Saint Martin’s is up to 7-2 overall and, like the women, 2-0 in the GNAC. The Saints will host three home games in five days, starting on Sunday, facing Douglas College. On Tuesday, they host Pacific University and Pacific Lutheran on Thursday. Saint Martin’s will go back into GNAC play when they go to Seattle Pacific on January 1.
