(Chico, CA) The Saint Martin’s Saints Women’s Basketball team was looking to continue its three-game win streak on the road at Chico State. The Saints trailed 28-14 as Chico State shot the lights out in the first quarter, going 11-15 from the floor, 4-6 from three, and a perfect 2-2 from the free throw line. Defense dominated the second quarter as Chico State outscored Saint Martin’s 9-7 for a 36-21 halftime lead. The Saints rallied in the third quarter, with a 22-point quarter, and cut the deficit to six points. Saint Martin’s had a terrific fourth quarter, putting up 26 points, but Chico State matched it as the Saints fell 75-69.
Jada Travis led the way for Saint Martin’s, scoring 22 points, adding seven rebounds, five assists, a block, and a steal. Laiken Hill played all 40 minutes and had 19 points, going 5-7 from three-point land. Kiana Rios had 12 points, five rebounds, and four steals. The Saints were 9-10 from the free-throw line and forced 18 Chico State turnovers.
The Saints stay on the road when they travel to Cal Poly Humboldt on Monday.
