(Lacey, WA) The Saint Martin’s Saints Men’s Basketball team closed out the non-conference portion of the schedule by facing Division III opponent, Pacific Lutheran. The Saints couldn’t miss early, going on a 21-0 run on 8-11 shooting in the first five minutes of the game. Pacific Lutheran burned two timeouts in the first four minutes, and Saint Martin’s extended their lead to 31-4 halfway through the opening half. The Saints led 48-18 with 2:34 left in the first half and led 52-29 at halftime. In the second half, Pacific Lutheran cut the deficit down to 19 points, but the Saints immediately responded with a 7-0 run. Saint Martin’s bumped their lead back up to 30 points later in the half, and cruised to an 87-65 win.

Mark Clegg Jr. led the way with 15 points, five rebounds, three offensive boards, and a pair of assists. Clegg Jr. went 3-4 from downtown. Dae’Kwon Watson also had 15 points with three rebounds and two assists. Patrick Kilfoil went 4-6 from three to give the freshman 12 points, and three offensive rebounds. Kaden Hansen had 11 points and four steals.

Saint Martin’s had 16 threes and shot 59.3% from beyond the arc, which is their highest three-point percentage in a game this season. The Saints also had 17 fast-break points while Pacific Lutheran had two.

Saint Martin’s is now 10-2 on the season as the win streak extends to seven games. The Saints reignite GNAC play on January 1 when they head to Seattle Pacific, and on January 3 head to Montana State Billings. The Saints are one of two teams 2-0 in GNAC play, with Northwest Nazarene being the other. Montana State Billings is 1-0 in the GNAC so far.
