Game 4
Kennedy Catholic 70, Mt Tahoma 67

Both Kennedy Catholic and Mt Tahoma got wins on day 1 so the battle for the lone 2-0 team was on. The host Mt Tahoma T-Birds would go to the half with a 7 point lead up 40-33. Peter Pilcher led the T-Birds at the break with 15 while KC’s Jonathan Bernez topped the Lancers with 9.

In the 2nd half, the T-Birds would go up by as much as 51-38 in the 3rd quarter when the Lancers changed up their defense and came out super aggressive. They clawed back within 6 after 3 down 56-50.

In the 4th, the defense remained stubborn and the Lancers started the air raid with 3-point bombs dropping in from all over. In the end, KC sunk 12 3-pointers led by CJ Lambert’s 4. Zion Stone would get 3, part of his game high 24 points and also went 9-11 from the free throw line. Stone also drained his 3rd 3 with about 23 seconds to play breaking the 67-67 tie to give the Lancer the lead.

The T-Birds called time-out with 8 seconds to play to set up a game-tying 3 pointer but Zion Norman’s shot came up short off the front of the rim as time expired giving the win to KC.

The Lancers improve their season record to 6-4 and return to action next Tuesday at home against Bremerton. Mt Tahoma drops to 3-3 for the year, and travels to Lincoln next Friday in a conference game with the Abes.

The Sumner Holiday Inn Game MVP

Zion Stone easily could have been named the MVP but he was awarded it Friday night and we like to spread the credit around. So, CJ Lambert’s 4 long balls and 12 points stood out to us and earned our Holiday Inn Express MVP.
