(Billings, Montana) The Saint Martin’s Saints Men’s Basketball team went on the road to #23 Montana State Billings in another GNAC matchup. The Saints trailed early 14-6 but battled back with a run to tie the game at 14. Montana State Billings led by just a point at the halftime break at 39-38. Saint Martin’s came out swinging in the second half, getting a 57-49 after a key 8-0 run. After Montana State Billings made it a 59-58 game, the Saints went on a 12-0 run to go up by 13 with just under six minutes left. Saint Martin’s kept things rolling with an 87-68 victory to maintain a perfect GNAC record.
Saint Martin’s was led by Kaden Hansen, who led all scorers with 25 points and played all 40 minutes in the winning effort. Dae’Kwon Watson had 18 points and was 7-7 from the free throw line. Pablo Navarro had another big game off the bench, with 14 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and a steal. Anthony Simo also was in double figures with 13 points on 6-7 shooting, eight rebounds, and two steals before fouling out. Saint Martin’s held Montana State Billings to just one made field goal in the final nine minutes, and converted on 15-19 free throws. The Saints drained 12 three-pointers while limiting the Montana State Billings bench to just five points.
Saint Martin’s has improved to 12-2 overall, 4-0 in GNAC action, and their win streak is up to nine games. The Saints impressively boast a 5-2 road record this season. With the Saints’ win, they are the last GNAC team undefeated in conference play. Northwest Nazarene, Alaska Anchorage, and Montana State Billings are all at 2-1, and the Saints have beaten both Alaska Anchorage and Montana State Billings already this year.
Saint Martin’s returns to Marcus Pavilion on Saturday to face Western Oregon in their only game next week.
