SEATTLE, WASH
Berkly Catton scored the first two goals of his National Hockey League career and the Seattle Kraken power play struck three times in a 7-4 win over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night at Climate Pledge Arena.
Jordan Eberle, Ben Myers, Jared McCann, and Kaapo Kakko — who added a pair, including an empty-netter — rounded out the scoring for Seattle. Joey Daccord stopped 32 shots as the Kraken extended their point streak to nine games, winning eight of those contests.
Boston got two goals from David Pastrnak, along with tallies from Mason Lohrei and Viktor Arvidsson. Jeremy Swayman made 20 saves in the loss.
Seattle opened the scoring on a two-man advantage in the first period when Eberle buried a loose rebound past Swayman at 8:50. Matty Beniers and Vince Dunn picked up assists on the Kraken captain’s 15th goal of the season.
The Bruins answered at 12:47 when Pastrnak beat an impending icing and slipped a shot past Daccord to tie the game.
Milestones continued for Seattle in the second period. After Jacob Melanson recorded his first NHL goal the night prior, Catton — Seattle’s 2024 first-round pick — snuck a shot by Swayman from the right faceoff circle at 2:48 for his first career NHL goal.
“Lot of weight off the shoulders for sure,” Catton said of the moment.
Pastrnak struck again at 6:28, finishing a Charlie McAvoy feed into a wide-open net to tie the game for the second time. Ben Myers restored Seattle’s lead late in the period, scoring off a setup from Tye Kartye at 18:23.
Moments later, following an Alex Steeves slashing penalty, the Kraken power play went back to work. McCann cashed in with just 0.5 seconds remaining in the period, finishing a cross-ice feed from Dunn to give Seattle two goals in the final 1:36 of the frame and a 4-2 lead heading into the third.
Kaapo Kakko added insurance at 10:21 of the third, finishing a stretch-pass setup from Freddie Gaudreau upon entering the offensive zone. Catton capped his milestone night at 14:20, scoring his second of the game — and career — off another Gaudreau assist.
Boston made a late push with goals from Lohrei following a net-front scramble and Arvidsson on the power play at 17:38, but Kakko sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 19:48.
Seattle’s seven goals marked their highest output since December 8, 2024, against the New York Rangers.
Head coach Lane Lambert credited the team’s recent surge to renewed confidence.
“We’ve got guys with their swagger back,” Lambert said.
The Kraken remain third in the Pacific Division with 47 points and have recorded points in nine straight games. Seattle returns to action Thursday against the Minnesota Wild before embarking on a five-game road trip through the East.
