(Federal Way, WA) For the fourth year, Federal Way High School hosts the MLK Dream Showcase. There are eight games taking place, and the Eli Sports Network will stream every game. This page will be updated as the day goes on with the results of all eight games, highlights, our postgame show, including the Sumner Holiday Inn Express Game MVP for each game, and the scorers.

Stadium Tigers 63, Rogers (Puyallup) Rams 54 (Boys)

In the first game of the day, Stadium jumped out to a 13-3 lead after the first quarter with terrific defense. Stadium held a 27-16 lead at the halftime break, with both teams playing practically even in the second quarter. Stadium maintained their double-digit lead after three quarters with a 44-32 advantage. Rogers attempted to come back, but Stadium’s lead proved to be too much as the Tigers would grab a 63-54 victory.

The Sumner Holiday Inn Express Game MVP went to Stadium’s Judah Noonan, who led all scorers with 20 points.

Stadium was also led by Isaiah Phok-Abay, who had 13 points, Ryan Pandell had eight points, Elijah Pruitt, and Chance Howard both had seven points, Kincaide Wilborn had five points, Kashton Korsmo had two points and Gavin McLane had one point.

The Rogers duo of Jakeem Richardson and Demetrius Williams led the Rams with 12 points each. Jessey Sochirca had nine points, Joshua Steiger had seven points, Luke Eagan had six points, Alexander Jorgensen had five points, and Eddie Ntambwe had one point.

Stadium improves to 5-9 on the season and hosts Kentridge tomorrow night. Rogers drops to 3-12 and will host Sumner on Wednesday.

Bainbridge Spartans 70, Tahoma Bears 65 (OT) (Boys)

In the second game of the day, the Tahoma Bears took a 17-14 lead after the first quarter. Tahoma extended its lead by just one at the halftime break, 28-24. In the third, Tahoma still led, but Bainbridge trailed by just a basket at 43-41. The two teams were tied at 59 at the end of regulation, with Tahoma tying the game up with five seconds left as Colby Brown knocked down two free throws. In overtime, Bainbridge’s Kaden Thielman made a floater to give the Spartans a 66-65 lead with under half a minute left. Bainbridge was able to pull away with clutch free throws at the end to take a 70-65 victory.

The Sumner Holiday Inn Express Game MVP went to Bainbridge’s Julien Zupan, who had 21 points.

Bainbridge was led by Kethan Reed, who had a game-high 26 points. Kaden Thielman had 12 points, Lane McFadden had fourpoints, Tom McFadden had three points, and Braden French and Garza Wooten had two points each.

Tahoma’s Jake Moen and Colby Brown each had 12 points, Tre Wohlhuter had 10 points, Trevor Stonerock and Talon Coker each had nine points, Rowan Douglas had six points, Anthony Millon had four points, and Jory Krolick had three points.

Bainbridge improves to 9-4 on the year and will host Port Angeles tomorrow night. Tahoma drops to 8-8 on the season and goes to Mount Rainier tomorrow night.

Seattle Prep Panthers 48, River Ridge Hawks 41 (Girls)

The River Ridge Hawks and Seattle Prep Panthers were very evenly matched in the first half. The sides were tied at nine apiece after the first quarter and at 20 at the halftime break. Seattle Prep had a 19-point third quarter to jump out to a 39-28 lead. Seattle Prep would go on to win 48-41.

The Sumner Holiday Inn Express Game MVP went to Seattle Prep’s Hope Renners, who led all scorers with 15 points.

Seattle Prep’s Kylin Kinchen had 11 points, Addy Jack had eight points, Naomi Anderson had six points, Lily Frazzini had five points, Elise Lydon had two points, and Chloe Fajole had one point.

River Ridge was led by Brandi Stanford, who had 12 points. Mya Armstrong was in double figures with 10 points, Jayla Cavalier had eight points, Paige Arko had five points, and Keke Bol and Syllestine Olney each had three points.

Seattle Prep improves to 6-9 on the year and will host Lakeside (Seattle) on Wednesday. River Ridge drops to 9-6 overall and hosts Gig Harbor tomorrow night.

River Ridge’s Mya Armstrong Drops In Bucket Off Turnover

Prairie Falcons 48, Annie Wright Gators 45 (Boys)

The Prairie Falcons erupted for an 18-5 lead after the first quarter. The defenses both were stout in the second quarter, but Annie Wright outscored Prairie 10-6, and the Falcons still led 24-15 at the halftime break. Annie Wright put up the most points in a quarter for either side in the third, with 19 as Prairie led 38-34 after three. In the fourth, things would go back and forth, but Prairie was able to hold off Annie Wright at the end as the Falcons used some clutch free-throw shooting to secure a 48-45 victory.

The Sumner Holiday Inn Express Game MVP went to Prairie’s Jamir Jones, who hit eight straight free throws and had 14 points.

Prairie’s Carson Morningstar joined Jones with 14 points, Ben Nkansah had seven points, Malachi Patton had five points, Payton Poppe and Tavin Timperley each had three points, and Andre Mbomba had two points.

Annie Wright’s Austin Collins had 20 points to lead all scorers, with 16 of them coming in the second half. James Thomas had 15 points, Brian Holliday had four points, and Joaquin Wiley and Casper Reynolds each had two points.

Prairie improves to 10-3 on the season and hosts Mountain View Friday night. Annie Wright drops to 10-4 on the season and will travel to Life Christian Academy on Thursday.

Federal Way Eagles 68, Davis (Yakima) Pirates 61 (Boys)

In the first quarter, Federal Way took a narrow lead at 15-14. Davis stormed back with a 20-point second quarter to take a 34-32 halftime lead. Federal Way used terrific defense to go back out in front after the third quarter at 45-41. The Eagles used a 23-point fourth quarter to get the win on their home floor in a tight one, 68-61.

The Sumner Holiday Inn Express Game MVP went to Federal Way’s La Prince Surge, as the freshman had 20 points to lead the Eagles.

Federal Way’s Elijah Gillespie had 17 points, Daesean Toomer had nine points, Justin Calcote had eight points, Jailyn Chavers had seven points, Eric Turner Jr. had four points, and David Stone had three points.

Davis was led by DeAnthony Wiggins, who led all scorers with 22 points, Marcus Smith, and David Vazquez each had 12 points, Mateo Garza and Quinton Allen-Greggs each had four points, Damian Pimentel had three points, and Marley Dittenholer and Tyce Hayden each finished with two points.

Federal Way jumps up to 8-6 on the season and faces Enumclaw at home on Friday. Davis sinks to 2-10 on the season and goes to Wenatchee on Friday.
