SUMNER, WASH
Kawehi Borden scored 18 first half points while Madison Hughes buried a trio of threes in a 56-30 win over the Rogers Rams.
With the win, Sumner’s record in the SPSL jumps to 12-0, while Rogers falls to 9-3. Sumner rebounded after falling to Bellevue in the Dream Showcase Monday Night 62-56. The Spartans are one win away from clinching the number one seed from the SPSL North in the League Tournament.
Kawehi Borden got the party started early with a ridiculous and one while falling to set the tone for Sumner. The next trip down the floor saw Borden hit a three from the right wing to pad a Sumner lead they never relinquished. Sumner led 24-6 after one quarter. Sumner’s depth helped with scoring in the second quarter. On top of Borden scoring 18 in the first half, Madison Hughes, Olivia Collins, and Kessa Nohr were a big reason Sumner did not look back.
Rogers saw admirable efforts from Kiara Lamusitele, Jillian Ancheta, and Rowan Deforrest in the loss.
Here is a recap of the scoring for the game.
Sumner: Kawehi Borden 24, Madison Hughes 9, Olivia Collins 9, Zoaye Reed 5, Molly Neely 5, Kessa Nohr 3, Finley Nadeau 3, Mae Cocke 3
Rogers: Kiara Laamusitele 10, Ellie Jordan 5, Rowan Deforrest 4, Katelyn Gage 4, Jillian Ancheta 3, Elaine Pilcher 2, Ryley Radcliffe 2
