#12 Saint Martin’s Saints 78, Central Washington Wildcats 66

(Ellensburg, WA) After making history last week by setting the program record with 12 straight wins, the Saint Martin’s Men’s Basketball team hit the road to face the Central Washington Wildcats. The Saints have a comfortable lead in the GNAC and were looking to keep it going with another conference win.

Saint Martin’s and Central Washington traded blows in the first half. It was a back-and-forth half with both teams using mini-runs to keep things close in the opening 20 minutes. The game was tied at 33 at the halftime break. After Central Washington scored the first two points of the half, the Saints went on a 10-0 run to get a tight grip on the lead. The Saints jumped up to a 49-40 lead before Central Washington came back. The Saints led 53-52 halfway through the second half but the Saints continued to build to their lead. Saint Martin’s pulled away down the stretch as the Saints would win 78-66.

Saint Martin’s was led by Diego Trejo-Delgado, who tied a career-high with 31 points. He also added 11 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks. Anthony Simo had 14 points, 12 rebounds, seven of which were offensive boards. Dae’Kwon Watson had 13 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. The Saints went 13-14 from the free-throw line and matched the Wildcats with nine threes made as a team. The Saints had only five turnovers and outscored Central Washington in the paint 36-26.

Saint Martin’s improves to 16-2 on the season and stays undefeated at 8-0 in the GNAC. Saint Martin’s has now won 13 in a row and looks to make it 14 at Northwest Nazarene on Saturday.
