1/27/26
Only one game remains in the 2025-26 NFL season and the Super Bowl will be a familiar matchup. Both the AFC and NFC Championship games were both entertaining and exciting in one score games that came down to the wire. New England hung on in a blizzard in Denver in a defensive battle 10-7 while on the NFC side it was an exciting shootout that saw Seattle outlast Los Angeles 31-27. Nobody in Professor DW’s Playoff Tournament got too much going this weekend which sets up a thrilling Super Bowl weekend.
New England and Seattle were the popular picks in the games with 15 of the 23 contestants correctly picking both of the games. With fewer games, there were more prop questions but again, nobody really could pull away on the props with a high score of the week being Kariann Sullivan with 8 points out of the 10 but five contestants with 7 right behind.
The highest scoring game of the week was clearly Los Angeles and Seattle which was heavily picked and the most touchdowns of the week was by wide receivers with a total of five. There was no successful two-point play and with the AFC Championship being so low scoring, most of the props went to the NFC game. The team with the most passing yards to a single receiver was the Rams with Matthew Stafford finding Puka Nacua for 165 yards to narrowly beat Sam Darnold to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Stafford and Darnold tied with the most touchdowns with three so contestants that picked either of them got a point and those two were the popular picks with Drake Maye being close behind. Denver recorded the most sacks and the Rams had the longest field goal at 50 yards. There was no missed PAT. Guesses were all over the place and no prop question was missed by everyone and no prop question had more than half of the contestants get it right outside of the QB with the most touchdowns.
The new leaderboard is down below with Mike Lowder now tied for first place with Kariann Sullivan at 19 points. There are only three contestants with fewer than 14 points and with 25 points up for grabs for the Super Bowl, everyone is still alive with an emphasis on the Super Bowl result itself.
The form is updated with the questions for the Super Bowl so make sure to get your entry in by 9am on Saturday, February 7th. Good luck!
