PUYALLUP, WASH
In a matchup between a pair of undefeated teams in Nisqually League play, the Annie Wright Gators delivered a statement performance, outscoring the Cascade Christian Cougars 23–5 in the second quarter on the way to a 58–29 victory.
With the win, Annie Wright improves to 14–5 overall and a perfect 7–0 in league play. Cascade Christian falls to 12-3 on the season and 4-1 in the Nisqually League.
The game was billed as a rematch of an earlier meeting that saw Cascade Christian’s Abigail Shelton hit a buzzer-beating layup to steal the win. But Thursday night’s contest—one that counted in the league standings—told a much different story.
Camille Bates set the tone immediately, knocking down a three-pointer on Annie Wright’s opening possession. The Gators fed off defensive pressure throughout the first half, capitalizing on Cougar turnovers that led directly to points. Bates poured in 12 points before halftime as Annie Wright built a commanding 33-14 lead at the break.
Annie Wright continued to pull away in the second half behind Jasmine Andrisek, who erupted for 12 points in the third quarter alone. The Gators’ balanced attack proved too much, as four players finished in double figures.
Andrisek led all scorers with 15 points, followed by Bates with 14, Aaliyeh Martin with 11, and Terrah Nichols-Whitmore with 10. Niv Phillips (4), Katya Defebaugh (2), and Raina Mathews (1) rounded out the scoring for Annie Wright.
Cascade Christian was led by Brooklyn Whittington’s nine points, with Macey McNicol adding seven and Alice Johnson scoring five. Abigail Shelton (2), Jenica Walling (3), Peyton Gray (2), and Josie Bingham (1) also contributed.
The Sumner Holiday Inn Express Game MVP honors went to Jasmine Andrisek, who scored 15 points—12 of them in the second half—to help secure the decisive win for Annie Wright.
