Boys Game
Tumwater 59, Black Hills 46
The Black Hills Wolves jumped on the T-Birds in front of a packed house quickly in the 1st quarter with a 12-5 lead. Unfortunateley, that 12-5 run would be their best of the game. Tumwater responded with a 10-0 run to make it 15-12 and would finish with a 21-15 1st quarter lead.
Landon Anchors who led all scorers on the night was red hot in the first half scoring 16 of his 21 points. Anchors lit it up from deep with 3 3’s and then went inside for 3 inside the paint buckets and an old-fashioned 3-point play going 1-1 from the line.
For Black Hills, Peyton Faught and Hayden Burgess each had a pair of long balls to keep Black Hills in the game trailing 33-26 at the halftime.
As the 3rd quarter began the T-Birds scrappy defense and the rebounding of Luke Overbay who finished with 11 boards kept the Wolves from ever making a real run and kept them to a minimum of a 3 possession game. Tumwater’s defense clamped down as well as the Wolves settled for plenty of outside shots that weren’t going down for them and they were limited to just 20 2nd half points.
The T-Birds pulled away with an 11-9 3rd quarter and put them away in the 4th with a 15-11 run. Julian Balsley stepped up in the 2nd half scoring 8 of his 10 points including a dunk and Braeden Konrad had 5 of his 7 off the bench in the 2nd half.
Leading the Wolves were Faught with 16 and James Morgan had 15.
