FEDERAL WAY, WA
White River 68 Federal Way 67
Logan Senon buried the game-winning three with four seconds left as the White River Hornets stunned the Federal Way Eagles in a wild finish, cementing White River as the fourth-ranked team in the NPSL standings.
Federal Way jumped out early behind a 9-0 run to take a 9-4 lead, forcing a White River timeout. Daesean Toomer fueled the Eagles’ fast start on both ends of the floor as Federal Way held an 18-14 advantage after one quarter. Senon scored eight of his team-high points in the opening frame, while Toomer chipped in five.
Defense took center stage in the second quarter as both teams managed just 11 points. Federal Way limited Senon to zero points in the period and carried a 29-25 lead into halftime.
Offense finally broke through in the third. Senon found his rhythm again, pouring in 12 points in the quarter as White River reclaimed the lead, 47-46, heading into the fourth.
The scoring surge continued down the stretch. Eric Turner Jr. caught fire for Federal Way, scoring nine of his game total in the fourth, while Isaiah Yates added six of his 10 points in the final period. White River countered with Ben Berg, who scored six of his own in the quarter to keep the Hornets within striking distance.
Federal Way appeared to have the game in hand after taking a 67-62 lead with 13 seconds remaining. Ray Palmer answered quickly with a three-pointer at the seven-second mark to cut the deficit to two. White River immediately called their final timeout. On the ensuing play, Federal Way was whistled for a five-second violation on the inbounds play, giving the Hornets one final chance.
Jorden Goethals found Senon on the wing, and the senior drilled the go-ahead three to put White River in front with four seconds left. On the final possession, Berg—playing with four fouls—stripped Federal Way’s La Prince Surge of the ball as time expired to seal the dramatic win.
White River closes out the regular season Friday at Enumclaw. Federal Way finishes with a back-to-back, hosting Enumclaw on Thursday before heading to Thomas Jefferson on Friday. The Eagles need one win in their final two games to clinch the final NPSL berth into the district tournament.
