Saint Martin’s Saints 68, Montana State Billings Yellowjackets 47
(Billings, MT) The Saint Martin’s Saints Women’s Basketball team took on Montana State Billings on the road. The Saints took down the Yellowjackets at home last month, 63-57, and were looking for the season sweep.
The two sides were even through the first quarter as both offenses delivered with 17 points each. In the second, the Saints defense had its best quarter of the night, holding Montana State Billings to just six points while putting up 13 for a 30-23 halftime lead. The Saints offense kept things going with 17 more points and held the Yellowjackets to single digits for the second straight quarter. Saint Martin’s saved their best offensive quarter for last, putting up 21 points and pulling away to win 68-47 on the road.
Avery Oaster led the game with 18 points and 13 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Laiken Hill added 14 points in another solid performance. Jada Travis filled up the stat sheet with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists for her second double-double of the year. Kiana Rios added 11 points and six rebounds. The Saints went 7-7 from the free throw line and drilled 11 three-pointers. The Saints outrebounded Montana State Billings 40-27, while forcing six steals.
Saint Martin’s improves to 13-8 on the season and 9-3 in the GNAC. With Central Washington losing to Western Washington, the Saints are one game behind the Wildcats in the conference standings. The Saints head to Seattle Pacific on Saturday to try to get their fourth straight win.
