#21 Saint Martin’s Saints 74, Western Oregon Wolves 55
(Monmouth, OR) After two close home losses last week, the No. 21 Saint Martin’s Saints Men’s Basketball team was looking to get back to its winning ways at Western Oregon.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair with neither side having firm control of the game. Saint Martin’s held a 35-32 lead at the break. In the second half, the Saints couldn’t miss, shooting 61% from the floor. Saint Martin’s pulled away from Western Oregon as the half went on, as five different Saints were in double figures. Saint Martin’s would win 74-55 to get back on the right side of the scoreboard.
Saint Martin’s was led by freshman Patrick Kilfoil, who went for 20 points on 7-9 shooting, including 4-6 from three-point land. Diego Trejo-Delgado had 19 points and six rebounds. Pablo Navarro continues to shine, as he had a double-double, 13 points and 10 rebounds. Anthony Simo and Kaden Hansen both had 10 points. The Saints were efficient from three, going 6-11, and were 12-14 from the foul line. Saint Martin’s dominated the paint, with 38 points in the paint compared to Western Oregon putting up 18.
Saint Martin’s is now 18-4 on the season and 10-2 in the GNAC. The Saints still have a cozy two-game lead over Montana State Billings, which is in second place in the conference. The Saints head to Simon Fraser on Thursday and Western Washington on Saturday.
