Saint Martin’s Saints 67, Seattle Pacific Falcons 47
(Seattle, WA) After a 40-point home victory over Seattle Pacific last month, the Saint Martin’s Saints Women’s Basketball team was looking for a sweep over the Falcons. The Saints were looking to add to their win streak and continue their quest to win their first-ever GNAC Regular Season title.
Saint Martin’s started the game on a 12-2 run and eventually led 23-8 after the first quarter. The Saints followed up with a 22-point second quarter and outscored Seattle Pacific again to take a 45-24 lead into the half. The defenses showed up in the second half, as Seattle Pacific outscored the Saints 12-11 in the third quarter. The fourth was the lowest scoring quarter as both sides put up only 11 points and Saint Martin’s picked up the win 67-47.
Saint Martin’s was led by Laiken Hill, who had a game-high 18 points on 7-11 shooting, including 4-6 from downtown. Avery Oaster had another terrific game, going for 15 points and nine rebounds on 6-8 shooting. Jada Travis had 11 points and seven rebounds for double figure scoring night. Madelyn Brown went 4-4 from the floor and 1-1 from the free throw line for nine points. Saint Martin’s outrebounded Seattle Pacific 36-25. The Saints made nine field goals in each of the first two quarters, including shooting 69% from the floor in the second quarter.
Saint Martin’s has won four games in a row to improve to 14-8 on the season and 10-3 in the GNAC. The Saints stay one game behind first-place Central Washington, as the Wildcats needed overtime to defeat Simon Fraser today. Saint Martin’s returns to Marcus Pavilion for three games in a row, starting next Saturday when the Saints play Western Oregon.
