Thursday night was the boys turn in the District 4 Pigtail tournament games. Mark Morris was at WF West and Aberdeen traveled to Ridgefield. Both games were winners to the double-elimination District tournament and the losers have their seasons come to an end.
ESN was at the Monarchs at the Bearcats game and below you will have our story and coverage. We’ll also have the Aberdeen/Ridgefield game score and any coverage we can find linked.
Ridgefield 95, Aberdeen 65
(Ridgefield, WA) The Spudders rolled in the winner to district, loser out contest with a big 30 point win. Ridgefield improved to 12-9 for the season and will now advance to the opening round of districts with a game on Saturday at #1 seed RA Long. Gametime is 6pm.
Aberdeen had their season come to an end and finished 8-13 for the season.

WF West 62, Mark Morris 46
(Chehalis, WA) In this win or go home game the Mark Morris Monarchs came out firing behind AJ Fabian who scored 10 of their 14 1st quarter points and gave the Monarchs an early lead.
The Beartcats did answer and ralled to tie the game at 14 after the first 8 minutes.Wyatt Hoffman drained a pair of 3 balls to lead WF West.
In the 2nd quarter Mark Morris began with a 6-0 to take a 20-14 lead. Carter Schmitt hit a 3 as did Fabian. WF West then countered big time with a 16-1 run to finish off the 2nd quarter including a halfcourt bomb from Alex Stafford that rattled in at the buzzer to give the Bearcats a 30-21 lead.
The Bearcats had a huge advantage on the boards 19-7 but didn’t start pulling away until the 2nd quarter.
As the 3rd quarter began, the Bearcats Race Rockey had 2 points and 3 rebounds. Rockey then exploded and ended up scoring 13 points with a 3 ball, 10 boards and 3 steals. Rockey was the only one with as double-double in the game. Rockey was one of 4 who hit double figures for WF West in the game. Hayden Rooney finished with 14 points and just missed the double-double with 8 boards, Hoffman led the Bearcats with 15 and Stafford hit for 11.
The Cats continued to lead the battle in the paint outrebounding the Monarchs 32-15 for the game. Mark Morris had 8 steals to the Cats 5 but was not enough to keep up with the Bearcats who blew the game open in the 3rd with a 20-7 advantage to lead 50-28.
Mark Morris did outscore WF West in the 4th 18-12 but it was too little, too late. Fabian was fabulous with a game high 22 points, 4 boards and 5 steals to fill out his stat line. Jackson Tallman came in off the bench to end up the second leading scorer for Mark Morris with 8, all in the 2nd half.
WF West improves tpo 8-14 for the season and will have at least 2 more games as they get into the district tournament. The Bearcats travel to Woodland on Saturday in the opening round of districts with a tip-off time of 6pm.
Mark Morris had their season come to an end with a 6-16 overall record.
Thorbeckes MVP Award
The Thorbeckes MVP award could have gone to any of the 4 top scorers for WF West including Wyatt Hoffman, Hayden Rooney or Alex Stafford. But only lne had a double-double so Race Rockey earned the game’s MVP award with 13 points, 10 boards and added 3 steals.
Had Mark Morris pulled off the win AJ Fabian finished with a game high 22 points with 4 rebounds and 5 steals.
