Silas 2, North Thurston 0
(Lacey, WA) The Silas Rams have had a really strong start to the season. After falling in the season opener to 4A Stadium 1-0 the Rams have reeled off 3 wins and shutouts in a row.
North Thurston was unbeaten through 6 matches with a 3-0-3 record and only giving up 4 goals on the season. While both North Thurston and Silas play in the Puget Sound League they play in different divisions so this is a non-conference matchup.
First Half Silas @ North Thurston
The defenses of both teams shined in the first half with Silas working the ball along their backline looking for creases in the North Thurston formation. North Thurston defense made big plays to keep the first half scoreless. In the 16th minute NT senior defender Justin Gochez Herrera made a goal saving clearance and just 3 minutes later Freshman keeper Jonny Cook made a diving save just pushing the shot past the post. Of the four corners taken in the first half with Silas took 3 of them but the half ended with a 0-0 score.

Silas got on the board in the 44th minute on a free kick by senior midfielder Caden Grant.
Grant kept the shot low and towards the far post and its like the seas parted and everyone expected a redirection that never came for the 1-0 lead. In the 65th minute Yusuf Mousa got on the end of a long pass just getting by a defender but got tripped right as he entered the 18 yard box leading to the shot from the spot. Caden Grant stepped up and netted the PK for the brace and 2-0 lead. The defenses went lockdown from there and Silas walked away with a 2-0 victory.

The MVP award was given to Caden Grant for his brace and overall play in the match. His touch and poise throughout the game was next level. The Silas backline of Gavin Hutton, Asa Chamberlin, Jackson Winstead, and Kellen Gallagher with Keeper Aiden Zawilski get a tip of the cap for their 4th straight shutout.

Silas is now 4-1-0 on the season and hosts Emerald Ridge on Friday the 27th. Their first PSL-Narrows match is at Lincoln on the 31st. North Thurston suffered their first loss of the season and are now 3-1-3. They travel to Capital to start PSL-Nisqually play also on the 31st.
