Toledo 59, Rainier 31

(Toledo, WA) The top of the Central 2B league standings remain jumbled with the top 5 teams within 2 games of each other with Napavine still on top at 9-0 followed by Adna 10-1, Toutle Lake is 8-2 and Toledo and Kalama are now both 8-3. The games are not even due to all the cancellations earlier this month with the severe weather the games are being made up but in the end there is little wiggle room among the top 5.

toledo-rain-2Rainier was just on the outside looking in at 4-4 and an upset on the road at Toledo would pull them closer to the top and the Mounties knew they would be challenged on the road. The Indians did not even allow the Mounties to be in the game from the start with a swarming defense they held Rainier to just 2 points while racking up 19 and after the 1st 8 minutes they held a 17 point lead.toledo-rain-1

The Indian offense struggled in the 2nd quarter with only 9 and gave up 14 but with a 17 point 1st quarter lead they went to the break with a comfortable 12-point advantage leading 28-16. Carmen Robles and Reece Wallace led the Tribe with 8 each while Shouridama Beadle paced the Mounties also with 8.

The Mounties run ended in the 2nd quarter as they were held to single digits in both the 3rd and 4th quarters while Toledo exploded putting up a 20 spot in the 3rd to put the game away. The offense drained 9 3-balls led by Reece Wallace’s 4 and Carmen Robles 3, Robles led the scoring with 15 while Wallace finished with 12. Joe Wallace also hit double digits with 11. Rainier’s Dillon Stancil hit 9 of his team high 14 in the 2nd half while Beadle finished with 11.

Our Pacific Sports Spa Players of the Game went to Toledo’s Carmen Robles and Rainier’s Shouridama Beadle.
