On Day 1 the field events that were completed in the girls meet were Javelin, Shot Put, High Jump and Triple Jump. The running events were the 4×200 relay, 100m low hurdles, 100m dash, 1600m run, 4×100 relay and the 400m dash. On Friday it’s the Discus, Long Jump and Pole Vault in the field events and running events include 300 hurdles, 800m run, 200m dash, 3200m run and 4×400 relay.

Bonney Lake had a dominating meet with place scoring in 17 of the 18 events missing only the Triple Jump in which they did not have a competitor. The Panthers won 7 events led by Zoey Diviny’s triple win in the distance races beginning with the 800 then the 1600 and the 3200. She won the 800 by 2-10ths of a second, the 1600 by less than a second and the 3200 by 5 seconds turning back favored Kivi Johnson of Lakes with a powerful stretch run. She also ran  the 400 and finished 4th but her team mate Ashley Hollenbeck would carry the torch with an impressive run. Hollenbeck also finished 2nd in the 100 and 200 and took 3rd in the long jump joining Diviny in scoring in all 4 of her events.

Brooke Mansfield dominated the hurdles winning both events, taking the 100 in a PR time of 17.36 winning by nearly a half second. She held off a determined Chonte’ Power from Lincoln in the 300 winning by 2/10ths of second.

In the field events only the Panthers and Lakes competed in the pole vault and Bonney Lake swept the top 2 placings with Ellianna Nelson winning it with a vault of 8-06 and Nikol Armijo was 2nd going 7-06. Paige Littlefield and Anna Hillier also placed. Shannon Sullivan placed in all 3 throwing events taking 2nd in the discus, 3rd in the javelin and 7th in the shot. In all the Panthers placed 35 times over the 17 events they competed.

Lakes scored a ton of points but in the end only won 2 events both in the throws where they dominated with 7 placings out of the possible 32. Melila Pulalasi won the shot put with a toss of 33-feet a personal best and led her to beat her team mate Marijean Faagau by 13 inches. Faagau would get her win in the discus slinging it 108-06 nearly 6 feet further than her closest competitor. Brenda Fuentes placed 5th for the Lancers. In the javelin Lakes had 3 placers, Laniyah Knox was 2nd, Jasmyne James 4th and Eleisha Croskey 7th.

Although they did not win any running events they had many strong efforts, Kivi Johnson was 2nd in the 1600 and 3200, Knox was 2nd in the 100 hurdles, the Lakes relay teams finished 3rd in the 4×100, 2nd in the 4×200 and 2nd in the 4×400. One other top 3 finish was Natalie Weathers in the 400.

The Stadium team also finished strong with just 2 wins but lots of placers. Makenzie Dilworth crushed the javelin with a throw of 122-07 winning by 22 feet. This was the only event Dilworth competed. The Tigers also won the 4×400 relay by 6 seconds. Saylor Smith set the tone in the lead off leg and followed by Marley Ells, Megan Wilkerson and Caroline Hall.

The collection of team mates on the winning 4×400 relay didn’t win any individual events  but Saylor was 2nd in the 400 and 800 and 3rd in the 1600. Marley Ells was 7th in the 200 and 400 and Caroline Hall was 5th in the 400, 4th in the 800 and 5th in the 1600. Other multiple placers for the Tigers included Madelin Jarzynka and Brenda Fuentes.

Mount Tahoma began the meet with a bang named Morgan Little. Little blistered both the 100 and 200 meters. She won the 100 in a PR time of 12.18, 3/10ths of a second in front and stopped the watch in the 200 at 26.03, 4/10ths the best. Little was nearly a triple winner finishing 2nd in the long jump just 1.25 inches short of the win and part of the 4×100 relay that was also 2nd. Little scored 26 of the teams 88 total points. Jessalyn Robles placed in the 200, 400, 800 and 1600 with her best finish 3rd in the 800.

The T-Birds had 5 of the 6 competitors in the triple jump and Jada Alexander won it with a leap of 33-02. Jonna Jo Rioux, Natori Crosson, Jane Sikes and Kelley Pyeatt  also placed and Sikes and Pyeatt also each placed in the high jump.

Wilson had one win in the meet taking the first running event of the meet the 4×200 relay. Ty’Zeonna Callender, Noele Eschenfelder, Railee Hutton and Samarika Williams crushed it winning by more than 2 seconds. Callender also placed in the 100 and 200, Eschenfelder picked up points in the 200 and long jump, Hutton scored in the 100 and 200 and Williams placed in the 100. The 4 of them were also in the 4×100 relay but were DQ’d on a hand-off. Elori Moon placed in both hurdle events and Ahnalyse Glenn-Leufroy was 2nd in the triple jump and 5th in the long jump.

Lincoln had one win in the high jump where Jaleigha Robinson set a personal best at 4-08 to win by 2 inches. Hannah Welch was 3rd in the discus. In the running events the Abes Chonte’ Power had a great run in the 300 hurdles finishing 2nd and she took 5th in the 100 hurdles and 5th in the 100 meters. Lincoln also finished 3rd in the 4×200 relay.

Spanaway Lake had one win in the 4×100 relay with Chantrea Robinson, D’Yhana Clemons, Alanis Serrano and Hailey Perrine combined together for the win. Perrine led the Sentinels scoring with that 10 in the relay and then a 3rd place finish in the 100 meters and tied for 4th in the high jump. Samayia White placed twice in the field events with a 3rd in the shot put and tied with Perrine in the high jump.

Eli’s Meet Awards

High Point Winner: Zoey Diviny Bonney Lake (35 points) Wins in the 800, 1600 and 3200 and 4th in 400

Top Running Event Performance: Mount Tahoma’s Morgan Little’s blazing run in the 100 meters.

Most Exciting Race: Bonney Lake’s Brooke Mansfield winning the 300 hurdles holding off a fast closing Chonte’ Power.

Best Redemption Race: Bonney Lake’s Ashley Hollenbeck was 2nd to Morgan Little in the 100 and 200 but then came back to win the 400.

Top Throwing Performance: Stadium’s Makenzie Dilworth 122-07 throw in the javelin winning by 22 feet.

Top Jumping or Vaulting Performance: Spanaway Lake’s Hailey Perrine edging out Morgan Little by an inch in the long jump.

Top Relay Performance: Wilson’s 4×200 Relay with Ty’Zeonna Callender, Noele Eschenfelder, Railee Hutton & Samarika Williams blitzed the competition by 2 seconds.

MVP: Zoey Diviny of Bonney Lake. Yes she scored the most points but how she scored the running a grueling schedule of the 400, 800, 1600 and 3200. Not being favored in all the events and turning away her top opponent Lakes’ Kivi Johnson in the 3200 to find another gear and pull away to win it in the final 200 meters.

Most Inspirational: Tie, Stadium team mates Charlotte Southworth and Lillie Steele. They both competed in the 3200 and finished 14th and 15th at the back end of the pack. They were both 4+ minutes behind the winner. But they never gave up and in fact pushed themselves and finished strong digging down to find that extra effort and both set personal best times by about 30-seconds. The effort simply inspirational.
