(Auburn, WA) Saturday was day 1 of the 2 day Fiesta Premio Esmeralda celebration with food and drink specials and special presentations including the famous dancing horses.

Saturday’s races had plenty of big pays and no one hot all 6 in the Pick 6 and the carry-over to Sunday is now a larger season high pot of $30,521.

Knightline broke alertly and never looked back, leading gate to wire for a one-length victory over Impassable in Saturday’s $24,000 Muckleshoot Casino Resort Purse for 3-year-olds and up.

Ridden by Blake Nunnally, Knightline covered 6 ½ panels in 1:15.92 and returning $14.74 for a $2 win ticket. Howie Gibson—the meet’s leading trainer with 22 wins—is the winning trainer and co-owner with breeders Ron and Nina Hagen and Peter Deraitus.

A 5-year-old Washington-bred by Coast Guard out of the stakes-winning dam Knight Club, Knightline has a career mark of 3-7-1 in 19 starts with earnings of $71,011. Saturday’s victory is worth $13,680.
Breaking from the No. 7 post, Knightline set fractions of :21.96, :44.32, and 1:09.14, was 1 ½ lengths clear past mid-stretch and held off the fast-closing Impassable for the victory.

Impassable, Frank Alvarado riding, lagged far back early, saved ground into the lane and finished in a strong rally for second. Charlie Neal, Alex Cruz riding, held third while Verdi, Blackberry Jem, Da Smoke and Yeti Lute rounded out the full order of finish.

Stratojet was a late scratch.

The 1-1 favorite Lotsa Kitty was in contention from the beginning with jockey Silvio Amador stalking pacesetter Limo to Vegas. Turning for home Amador sent Lotsa Kitty who cruised to a 2+ length win in a time of 1:39.95 going the mile. Limo to Vegas did well to hang on for 2nd with Isaias Enriquez, Sweet Shoppe and Kevin Orozco ran 3rd while Smoothie Ryder with Alex Anaya ran 4th.

Lotsa Kitty is owned by Steve and Letha Haahr and trained by Vince Gibson.

Reef City a 10-1 outsider closed with a rush on a perfectly timed ride from Blake Nunnally to nail 6-1 Deputy’s Dancer and Alex Cruz on the wire for the win. Reef City owned and trained by Jorge Maravilla ran the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:17.38.

Deputy’s Dancer completed the exacta while Twenty Five Sunset and Silvio Amador ran 3rd and completing the superfecta was Time Ticker piloted by Kevin Krigger.

A field of 6 and the longest shot on the board Olivian went gate to wire in a brilliant front running effort under Kevin Orozco. Olivian ran the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:03.73. Olivian is owned by Raymond Murray and trained Doug Carlson.

A clear 2nd was the 2nd longest shot on the board Flyin’ By with Silvio Amador. Odds-on favorite Clubhouse Drama and Blake Nunnally flattened out to hold 3rd with Eyelight and Isaias Enriquez taking 4th.

6-1 Bourbon Dancer was the next to light up the scoreboard as Kevin Orozco scored a double completing his own daily double. Bourbon Dancer sat off the pace for the 1st half mile then made a move 0n the turn finding a wide open lane and shot past the front speed of Prowling Cat to cruise to a 2 1/2 length win in a final time 1:36.84. Bourbon Dancer is owned and trained by Valentin Garcia.

Upstart Yankee closed late under Kevin Krigger to get 2nd, Prowling Cat and Adrian Castellanos fnished 3rd with Tex Hanley and Silvio Amador 4th.

A field of 5 went 6 furlongs and the public was split with 7-5 Shaughnessy the favorite with 2-1 Pearl Essence and 2-1 Kiss Don’t Tell. Shaughnessy was pushed to the lead by Allyssa Morales but Silvio Amador wouldn’t let Shaughnessy take control and stayed within striking distance. Amador and Pearl Essence struck at the 1/8th pole and rolled to a clear win in a final time of 1:11.21. Shaughnessy held 2nd, Melidous Sonnet with Alex Cruz was 3rd and Kiss Don’t Tell under Kevin Krigger was 4th.

Pearl Essence is owned by Paula Marshall, Alexis and Pam Leisos and trained by Alexis Silva-Martinez. Pearl Essence is a 1st time starter and Washington bred by Conveyance out of Atta Girl Pearl by Atta Boy Roy and was bred by Paula Marshall.

Anaya aboard 14-1 Designated Runner had enough of that and not only won but destroyed the field of 7 winning by 10 1/4 lengths running the 6 furlongs in 1:10.62. Designated Runner is owned by Lee and Connie Erickson and trained by Ryland Harwood.

Little Minnie Mo and Alex Cruz were a clear 2nd, Valid Gold ridden by Jose Rodriguez ran 3rd, Swingin inthe Rain and Blake Nunnally 4th with Big Brother Ron under Kevin Orozco completed the Super Hi 5.
