Three games on the air Friday night a boys contest which saw Kalama put it a good Toledo squad, and in girls hoops 2 games, the Tenino Beavers off a stinging loss to Montesano on Thursday night had to turn around and play one of the best teams in the state in all classifications the WF West Bearcats and the Cats were in no mood to show any weakness. In the Metro League, Lakeside needed a win to keep in the hunt for the League Title and Eastside Catholic had upset on their mind.

Boys Central 2B
Kalama 67, Toledo 42

(Kalama, WA) Kalama came into this game just a half game up on Toledo for 2nd place and a game behind Toutle Lake. This was an important showdown with league championship implications. Kalama got off to a fast start with an up tempo pace and smothering defense the Chinooks pulled out to a 20-7 lead after the 1st quarter and in the end that would be a deficit the Indians could not overcome.

Kalama would push that lead to 20 with a 36-16 lead at the break and maintain that 20 point advantage heading into the final 8 minutes leading 49-29 after 3. The Chinooks improved to 7-1 and Toledo falls to 6-2 in league play. Toledo will host a big game on Monday against Napavine while Kalama will have their shot at a share of the league title when they travel to Toutle Lake next Thursday.

ESN’s Matthew King had the call on the game in Kalama and has a full scoring re-cap and names his players of the game in the Post Game Show linked below.
