ESN had boys and girls basketball and a boys soccer match on the air Tuesday night. A double OT thriller at Clover Park between the Warriors and Fife, Wilson just missing hitting the century mark, WF West is now 12-0 in girls hoops and a huge 2nd half propels the Garfield boys in soccer. Our coverage all below.

Boys Basketball

Fife 76, Clover Park 74 (2OT)

(Lakewood, WA) The 2 teams were tied after 1 and Clover Park held a 1 point lead at the break. Fife responded pushing a lead of 6 after 3 only to see that lead dissolve quickly and the Trojans were the ones who needed to find a way to tie the game late and with less than 12-seconds Kaleb Martin goes coast to coast off a missed free throw to sink the tying bucket.

In the 1st OT Clover Park’s Marcel Hurst led an 8-0 surge to begin the extra 4 minutes but Fife answered with 6 but still it looked like the Warriors would hold on with 1.5 seconds to play and the Trojans with the ball on the baseline. Braxton Dizon would pass the ball in and it came right back to him and Dizon laid it in as the buzzer sounded and we were off to double OT.

Once again the Warriors would take a lead and the two teams fought to a 74-74 tie with 21-seconds left. C-P’s Raymon Martin was fouled and sent to the line for a 1-1 but his 1st shot bounced off the rim and the Trojan’s Elijah Jennings grabbed the rebound and streaked down the floor and put up a shot that rolled off. As time ticked away Fife would rebound and shoot another 5 times before the ball once again ended up in Jennings hands who finished off the game putting the ball back up and off the backboard as time ran out and Fife grabbed the win.

Fife is now 4-2 in league play and will hold on to at least 4th place which is important as the top 4 teams will move to a league play-off. Clover Park was in 5th to start the night and now fall to 2-3 in conference play.

Leading the Trojans was Kaleb Martin with 22, Michael Steimle had 18, Jennings with 10, Dizon had 9, Zack Caraballo 6, Spencer Willhite 4, Jaiden Orchard 3 and Randy Lawhead 2.

Our players of the game went to Braxton Dizon for Fife and Marcel Hurst for Clover Park.

WF West 77, Mark Morris 30

(Chehalis, WA) The Bearcats continue to prove why they are considered one of the best teams in all classifications in the state as they rolled up their 12th straight win. There is little resistance to WF West getting to 14-0 as they play at Centralia on Wednesday and finish up Friday against Black Hills. Two teams they have already beaten 76-19 and 64-26.

Mark Morris hit a 3 pointer to start the game and that would be the last lead they would have as the Bearcats pulled out to a 17-7 lead after 1 but exploded in the 2nd quarter with a 28-5 run and a 45-12 lead at the break. WF West expanded that lead to 59-22 before finishing with a 47 point win.

ESN’s Luke Kilgore and Matthew King were on the call and below is the link to their post game show with full scoring stats and their players of the game.

Boys Soccer

Garfield 6, Eastside Catholic 2

(Seattle, WA) The Garfield Bulldogs were in a battle through most of this match as Eastside Catholic tied the match late in the 1st half on a free kick at 2-2. Garfield would strike early in the 2nd half on a PK that would bounce off the inside of the right post and pinball across and roll in on the left side of the goal just out of the reach of the keeper.

That score would stand until the final 10 minutes of the game when Garfield exploded for 3 more goals to put a stamp on this victory. Garfield is now 2-1-3 on the season and will finish their season with a match at Rainier Beach on Friday. Eastside Catholic dropped to 0-6-1 and will host Franklin on Thursday for their final match.
