Last night ESN covered a pair of Volleyball matches both ended in 3-0 sweeps. Tumwater remained undefeated in EVCO 2A play with their victory over Centralia and Napavine also is perfect in league play with a straight sets win over Kalama. Our Reports below.

Tumwater 3, Centralia 0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-9)

(Centralia, WA) The T-birds got stronger as the match went on and rolled to their 7th straight league win beating Centralia for the 2nd time this season as the EVCO 2A begins their 2nd run through the league. Tumwater is now 7-0 in league play and 9-1 overall while the Tigers fall to 3-4 and 5-4. Tumwater travels to Black Hills next Tuesday for what likely will determine the league champion while Centralia will look to get back in the win column at home against Rochester.

Our Better Homes and Garden, Summit Financing and Country Financial Home Team Takin’ it to the House Play of the game went to the Centralia Tigers. We kinda cheated on this one early in the 1st set a spectacular rally between the 2 teams saw the Tigers pull out the point so we wanted to reward them all for this great play for a single point.

Our Thorbeckes MVP went to Tumwater’s Natalie Montoya-Kilmer who finished off many points with devastating kills shots, she was a force at the net.

Napavine 3, Kalama 0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-12)

(Napavine, WA) A showdown between two teams with league title aspirations in the C2BL took place in Napavine on Thursday night as the Napavine Tigers hosted the reigning league champions in the Kalama Chinooks. With an entire new coaching staff at Kalama and a young team, Napavine had a chance to stake their claim as the team to beat in the loaded league. After earning a five-set win over the Chinooks earlier this year, the Tigers put together a more emphatic win this time around earning the sweep over Kalama 25-13, 25-16, and 25-12.

With the win, the Napavine Tigers moved to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in league play. The Tigers return to action on Tuesday when they hit the road to take on Morton/White Pass at 7pm. Kalama drops to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in C2BL play. The Chinooks will get a home match up next when they host Onalaska also on Tuesday at 7pm.

Our Better Homes and Garden, Summit Financing and Country Financial Home Team Takin’ it to the House Play of the game went to Dakota Hamilton of the Napavine Tigers. In the second set, the Tigers were putting up some emphatic kills that drew the Kalama backline closer to the net. Hamilton saw this and took the opportunity for a quick pass over that was headed for the very back corner, earning the Tigers a point with the precision shot.

Meanwhile, our Thorbeckes MVP of the match was Keira O’Neill. O’Neill finished with 12 kills and a couple of aces with a couple of blocks mixed in as well. The senior always takes over as the match goes on and is a player that can dominate the match if you let her get in a groove. O’Neill found that groove on Tuesday night, leading a very balanced Tiger attack to the emphatic victory.
