(Seattle, WA) The Metro League had Franklin and Rainier Beach pinned against each other as the regular season is winding down. Franklin had defeated Rainier Beach earlier in the season and were looking for the season sweep.

In the first half, Franklin jumped out to a big lead, using both great defense and offense to jump out to a double digit lead. The Quakers were led by Khamille Chappell who had 17 points in the first half. She hit three threes and also was great defensively. Akeelah Sanh had a pair of first half threes also. Rainier Beach was led by Nayloni Matthews who had five points in the first half. Franklin led 28-10 at the half.

In the second half, Rainier Beach had a good third quarter, scoring 11 points with Matthews continuing to score, as she had eight points in the third quarter Franklin again had another great quarter from Khamille Chappell as she finished the game with a game-high 27 points. Franklin would take the victory 51-26.

With the win, Franklin improves to 10-7 and 7-7 in Metro League play. Franklin will host Cleveland on Wednesday for their second to last game of the regular season.

Rainier Beach drops to 4-10 overall and 4-10 in league play. The Vikings will play Ingraham next week before wrapping up the regular season against Chief Sealth at home.

Our Thorbeckes Game MVP went to Khamille Chappell, as she led everyone with 27 points and hit four threes in the game.

Also scoring for Franklin was Akeelah Sanh with six points, Ashley Verduga and Marijah Johnson with five points, Jillian Rosewarne with three points, and Ciara Tu’u with two points.

Rainier Beach was led by Nayloni Matthews who had 15 points, Sanai Mu’ied had five points, Sashie Roberts had four points, and Anasia Mundine had two points.
