Yesterday, the NCAA DI Women’s Golf Individual National Championship was completed. The tournament is held at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. The individual tournament is a 72-hole competition with a cut.

Arkansas’s Maria Jose Marin won the individual title by shooting 12-under for the National Championship. Maria Jose Marin is a sophomore for the Razorbacks, and with her win, she has also earned an exemption into the U.S. Women’s Open, which takes place from May 29 to June 1. Marin shot 2-under in the first round and an even par 72 in the second round. Marin shot a 7-under, 65 in the third round, going bogey-free to jump up the leaderboard. In the final round, she shot 3-under to claim the individual National Championship by two shots over Florida State’s Mirabel Ting.

Lauryn Nguyen, who plays for Northwestern but went to West Seattle High School, had a good showing at the National Championship. Nguyen tied for 14th, firing 2-under for the four rounds. Northwestern is the three-seed, with the Wildcats shooting a combined 2-over par during the four rounds. Northwestern will face Arkansas in the Quarterfinals of match play.
