The third major championship of the season tees off tomorrow for the LPGA. The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship was held at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish last year, and is held at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas this year. Last year, Amy Yang from South Korea won her first major by three strokes.

Nelly Korda comes in as the favorite, and Korda has experience winning this major. Korda won in 2021, tying the record for lowest score to par (-19) in her first of two major championships. Jeeno Thitikul from Thailand is another favorite, as the 22-year-old is searching for her first major title. Thitikul is second in the Rolex Rankings to Korda, and is one of the best players, if not the best player, without a major championship.

Vancouver’s Caroline Inglis is in the field this week and is playing in her second major of the year. Inglis missed the cut at the Chevron Championship, but last year at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, she recorded her best finish in a major championship. Inglis finished T-9 shooting 1-under for the week. Inglis has had an up-and-down season, starting 10 times and making five cuts. Inglis’s best finish came last month at the MEXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba, finishing T-21, and last week finished T-67 at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give.

Maja Stark from Sweden won her first major championship at the U.S. Women’s Open last month. At the Chevron Championship, Mao Saigo won in a playoff to get her first major championship. The last two winners of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship have been first-time major champions. Four of the last five major winners have also been first-time major champions.

Golf Channel will broadcast the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, Peacock will air the first half of coverage before switching to NBC. NBC picks up coverage on Saturday at 10:30 AM and on Sunday at Noon.
