(Sunriver, OR) The Round of 32 and the Round of 16 are complete at the 123rd PNGA Men’s Amateur Championship. The field returned to the Meadows Course for today’s action, and there was plenty of it. Tomorrow will be the Quarterfinals and Semifinals, which will be back at the Meadows Course at the Sunriver Resort.

Round of 32

  • Olympia’s Eli McNelly defeated Valencia, California’s Dylan Burcham in 19 holes. Only six holes in this match were tied, with the last one coming on the 10th hole.
  • Kennewick’s Zachary Miller won over Kirkland’s Brock Olson 6 & 5.
  • Vancouver’s Brett Johnson won over Boerne, Texas’s Jacob King 5 & 3.
  • Boise, Idaho’s Trevor Garus won 3 & 1 over Tustin, California’s Eli Geddy. Garus was 3 Down on the 7th hole and rallied to win six of the next 10 holes to win the match.
  • Lake Oswego, Oregon’s Nilay Naik won 2 Up over Mulino, Oregon’s Jake Rodgers.
  • Scottsdale, Arizona’s Dillon Dean won 4 & 2, Brookings, Oregon’s Lucas Vanderlip.
  • Eugene, Oregon’s TinWei Chang won 4 & 3 over Lake Oswego, Oregon’s Jack Harrington.
  • Bothell’s Walker Lamb defeated Shoreline’s Benjamin Borgida 3 & 2.
  • Truckee, California’s Ethan Flynn won 2 Up over Issaquah’s Calvin Cakarnis. Flynn was 1 Down going into the 15th hole, but won the 15th, 17th and 18th holes to win the match.
  • Centralia’s Von Wasson won 5 & 3 over Bellingham’s Jonathan Larson.
  • Rocklin, California’s Max Thomas won 1 Up over Creswell, Oregon’s Calvin Green. Thomas was 2 Down after 14 holes, but won the 15th, 16th, and 18th holes to move on to the Round of 16.
  • Quincy’s Paul Mitzel won 2 & 1 over Bend, Oregon’s William Mansfield.
  • Sacramento, California’s Matthew Miyamoto won 2 Up over Tacoma’s Jeff Seong.
  • Buckeye, Arizona’s Lucas Hughes won 1 Up over Mill Creek’s Jacob Kang. Hughes won the 14th, 15th, and 18th holes to take the match after being 2 Down through 13 holes.
  • Post Falls, Idaho’s Taylor Lansford won 2 Up over Santa Barbara, California’s Jeffrey Forster. Lansford won five of the last seven holes to claim the match. Lansford was 2 Down after 11 holes, won the 12th, 13th, and 14th holes to go 1 Up. Forster tied the match on the 16th hole, and Lansford won both the 17th and 18th holes for the win.
  • Bend, Oregon’s Sam Renner won 2 & 1 over Rexburg, Idaho’s Ashton McAruther.

Round of 16

  • Eli McNelly won 3 & 2 over Zachary Miller.
  • Brett Johnson won 4 & 2 over Trevor Garus.
  • Nilay Naik won 1 Up over Dillon Dean. Naik was 3 Down twice on the back nine but won four of the last five holes to win the match.
  • Walker Lamb won 5 & 4 over TingWei Chang.
  • Ethan Flynn won 2 & 1 over Von Wasson. Flynn was 1 Down twice on the back nine but won the 14th, 15th, and 17th holes to move on.
  • Max Thomas won 2 & 1 over Paul Mitzel.
  • Matthew Miyamoto won 1 Up over Lucas Hughes.
  • Sam Renner won 4 & 3 over Taylor Lansford.
