(Greenville, NC) Mill Creek Little League became regulars on ESPN as they rolled through the Northwest Regional Tournament. At the Little League Softball World Series, the team fought until the very end, but got knocked out in extra innings.
Mill Creek started their LLSWS journey with a 9-2 loss to Florida out of the Southeast region. The team bounced back quickly, with a 10-0 win over California out of the West region in an elimination game. Facing another elimination game, the squad went up against Florida once again. This game had a weather delay, and Florida was up 5-1 in the seventh inning, but the ladies scored a pair of runs and brought the tying run to the plate. Mill Creek fell just short of another dramatic comeback, losing 5-3 and ultimately being eliminated.
The team had a dominating run through most of the Northwest Regional Tournament, then played a crazy Regional Championship game, which saw them come from behind in four straight innings, three of them were in extra innings, to win the title and head to the LLSWS. There, the team again showed their resilience and determination. Only 12 teams from around the world make the LLSWS, which is a massive accomplishment in itself, and some teams don’t even win a game. Mill Creek Little League certainly made the most of their summer with their inspiring run and has a lot to be proud of.
On the Mill Creek team are Anya Miller, Molly Joe Sewell, Daphnee Calsyn, Liliana Delgado, Penelope Gahan, Camryn Brown, Reese Caskey, Anna Yoo, Phoebe Banks, Makenna Love, Kaitlyn Stetich, and Mila Bailey.
