(San Bernardino, CA) Bonney Lake-Sumner will be heading to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, later this month for the Little League World Series after the team won the Northwest Regional Tournament in dominating fashion.
The squad started their week with a 17-5 victory over Alaska to advance to the semifinals. There, they won 20-6 over Oregon to go to the championship game. Oregon took down Alaska, setting up a rematch for a trip to the Little League World Series.
With the bright lights of Williamsport on the horizon and the game being broadcast on ESPN, Bonney Lake-Sumner rose to the occasion once again. 10 of the 12 players recorded a hit in the championship game, led by Landon Teafoe, who went 2-2, had 3 RBI, scored a run, and hit a home run. Gavin Heacox pitched 3 1/3 innings, giving up just one hit and one run, and Andrew Madsen closed things out for the remaining 2 2/3 innings as Bonney Lake-Sumner won 6-1 to advance to the Little League World Series.
The team will play its first game on Friday, August 15, at noon against the winner of the Nevada (Mountain)/Illinois (Great Lakes) game.
The team’s players are Mason Woods, Finn Harrington, Andrew Madsen, Colton Audette, Gavin Heacox, Asher Monson, Connor Smith, Sawyer Breed, Landon Teafoe, Atley Eager, Cole Sehlin, and Hiatt Siebert.
