(Williamsport, PA) Bonney Lake-Sumner represented the Northwest well at the Little League World Series. The team ultimately fell short, getting eliminated by the Midwest region, South Dakota, 9-0.
Bonney Lake-Sumner had a perfect run through the Northwest region tournament, winning all three games and doing so handily. Two of those wins were by double digits while in the championship game they held Oregon to just one run.
The team played the Mountain region at the Little League World Series and lost a close battle 5-3. They avoided elimination once, with a slim 3-2 win over New England. Needing three more wins to advance to the U.S. Championship game, the team ran into the Midwest region, which resulted in a 9-0 loss.
The players on the team are Atley Eager, Cole Sehlin, Hiatt Seibert, Gavin Heacox, Finn Harrington, Mason Woods, Asher Monson, Connor Smith, Sawyer Breed, Andrew Madsen, Colton Audette, and Landon Teafoe. The manager is Scott Seibert, and the assistant coaches are Andy Audette and Chris Heacox.
Since Covid-19 canceled the 2020 Little League World Series, Washington has been the Northwest region representative every year this decade. In 2021, Eastlake Little League made it, Bonney Lake-Sumner were there in 2022, Northeast Seattle Little League made it in 2023, and were one win away from the U.S. Championship game, and last year, Puyallup’s South Hill Little League were the Northwest region champs. This year’s Bonney Lake-Sumner team proves again that baseball is strong in Washington.
