9/9/25
(Olympia, WA) The defending 1A champions travelled to Ingersoll Stadium to continue their tough early schedule. They have already played 3A Inglemoor (3-2 loss) and perennial 1A power Montesano (3-0 win).
Olympia, playing their first game of the season, has a lot of returning players from last year’s 7-7-3 team. After a first round district 3/4 loss the Bears are looking to improve on last season’s record in a very strong SPSL 4A league.
Cedar Park Christian 4 Olympia 1
The Eagles started the game off with a ton of energy and an aggressive offense. That aggressiveness paid off in the 3rd minute when Shay Greff found Deandra Dan just outside the 18 yard box. Dan volleyed the pass out of the air to the opposite post for a beauty of a goal and a 1-0 lead. She wasn’t done there notching another goal in the 13th minute for the first half brace.
Olympia’s defense of Brynn Udo, Brooke Juergens, Arianna Basil and Hannah Kim had their full but managed to slow the tempo and regrouped after the 2nd goal. Along with goalie Esther Pearson, 3 first half saves, they managed to keep CPC scoreless for the rest of the half.
Halftime Cedar Park Christian 2 Olympia 0
The Bears started the 2nd half with crisper passes and played a little more direct offensively for the first 15 minutes. Cedar Park Christian withstood the early charge of the Bears and found Dan on a counter right up the middle of the field in the 63rd minute and she completed her hat trick.
A hand ball in the box by CPC in the 72 minute gave Oly a penalty kick. Senior Avery Draper stepped up and sent a shot to the bottom corner of the net for the first goal of Olympia’s season. Just 2 minutes later Shay Greff got on the end of an errant Bears pass and she scored the last goal of the game making it a 4-1 Cedar Park Christian win.
Our Sumner Holiday Inn Express MVP went to Deandra Dan for the hat trick and stellar play up top.
Cedar Park Christian is now 2-1 on the year and travels to 4A State runner up Woodinville on Sept. 11th. Olympia is now 0-1 and has matches against Capital on the 11th and Lewis and Clark on the 12th.
